Bad bad people! Bad influences! I was toiling away on my second draft of Corpse Blood and damned if I didn’t look down at the page and think, “Hey, wait a second. They’re going to have sex.”

I hadn’t planned that at all. Well, I mean, I planned on going there eventually. But I wanted to do this whole semi-Scully-and-Mulder thing first. But then it just didn’t make sense. Something else did.

It’s not my first sex scene. Not by far. But it was different than all the others. The others are pure heat. Pure obsessive, carnal burn. This one... it was hard. It was desperate. It was emotional. And I think the characters really love each other. There was so much going on beyond the sex. That’s why it was hard.

I’m still fighting sinus problems. I’m not sure if it is because of this time of the year, or because we giving our house a good deep clean and rearrange. It’s an old house so any kind of activity like that kicks up a lot of dust. My house was built in 1900 and has thus far survived two floods. We’re do the rearranging because we’re also preparing to put some money into it redoing paint and floors and a number of small things that need to be repaired. I’m practically turning into a handy woman with all the research I’m doing for projects.

With a little luck, and work, the second draft of Corpse Blood and the cleaning will all be wrapped up by this time next week.
