So I decided to take another stab at substitute teaching (school starts up in only a few weeks). I went back online and made some changes to my online application, and holy fuck this is going to be a pain in the ass. Look at what I have to provide:
1. Proof of education. Substitute teacher applicants must provide an official transcript reflecting completion of at least sixty (60) accredited semester hours or ninety (90) accredited quarter hours of college coursework. Academic records printed on plain white paper are not acceptable. 2. TB skin test report or chest x-ray report no more than ninety (90) days old. You may have a skin test or x-ray done with a private physician or you may do so through a Metro Public Health Center. The Metro centers are: * Lentz Public Health Center; 311 23rd Avenue North; 340-5658 * East Nashville Public Health Center; 1015 East Trinity Lane; 862-7916 * Woodbine Public Health Center; 224 Oriel Avenue; 862-7940 3. Fingerprint Receipt (Instructions below) 4. Two completed work/professional reference forms in sealed envelopes. If you have submitted reference forms in application for a regular teaching position, you must obtain a signature from the receptionist in Human Resources in lieu of re-submitting references. 5. A photocopy of your driver's license and social security card (or birth certificate or passport).
By the way, that fingerprinting thing costs about fifty dollars. That's fifty dollars of my own money I have to spend to consent to some stupid background check (I realize it's necessary because I'm going to be working with kids, but damn).
Anyway, I forced myself to draw a little bit this morning, since I haven't been very productive lately due to my tremendous change in mood since I've returned to Tennessee. I know I'm depressed, so I'm trying to find things to do to take my mind off of it, and it's hard since I haven't been working. Being in this mindset makes it hard as hell to find a job, too. |
