Big Bang's Status According to YG.



YG’s Big Bang, won the “Seoul Kayo Dae Sang” yesterday and is gearing up for their Japanese single promotional activities which starts on February 6. The Bang boys will also hold a concert in Japan in March.

YG also stated that BB is preparing for a concert tour in Korea scheduled for sometime in May. Meanwhile, G-Dragon will produce BB’s next album, Tae Yang will prepare for his solo album scheduled to be released in April, TOP will appear in dramas, Dae Sung will study for the Korean GED and Seung Ri will “start a new adventure” aka he has no definite plans.

Big Bang’s “GREAT” concert DVD will be available in stores on February 27^th.

When will Se7en debut in US?

YG wrote on his homepage that Se7en’s US debut is imminent and that they are currently negotiating with top US record label company for Se7en’s album release. That’s great, but we have been inundated with YG’s bluff that all we want to know is when it’s actually happening. In fact, is Se7en’s US debut really imminent or is this YG’s way of maintaining interest for the MIA Se7en?

BoA's secret US debut plan.?



BoA has been secretly preparing her US debut album with Madonna’s producer Peter Rafelson since last year. Unlike Se7en, Rain and other K-pop singers who spend their time flaunting about their grand US debut without producing any results, BoA has been concentrating on producing her album and honing her English skills because she understands the difficulty of crossing over to another country. Finally, someone is approaching the “American Dream” in a more sensible way.

BoA’s US debut plans will be released in March and her US debut is scheduled for May.

Seeya’s Kim Yeon Ji rushed to hospital during performance



With Nam Gyu Ri and Lee Bo Ram hogging the media spotlight, Seeya’s Kim Yeon Ji went unnoticed until news about her fainting broke out this morning. Kim Yeon Ji fainted during her performance and was quickly rushed to the hospital.

The cause of her condition is unknown at the moment, but her blood is getting tested so her managers can decide whether or not she can resume her promotional activities. Seeya’s money hungry managers must be stingy when it comes to sick days.

Kim Yeon Ji is currently resting at the comfort of her own house until her results are released. Feel better Kim Yeon Ji!

Lee Dong Gun's back to his kpop roots.



Newly single panda, Lee Dong-gun is returning to his kpop roots in Japan. After his highly publicized break-up, the singer turned actor is currently residing in Japan to prepare his Japanese single, scheduled to be released in March.

Lee Dong-gun debuted as a singer back in 1998, but after two albums, he called it quits. His official acting career started in 2003 with Lets go to School Sangdoo, and his latest endeavor was the hit movie Do You Live with Your Lover Now? with Han Chae Young and Uhm Jung Hwa.

Lee Dong-gun and Han Ji Hye seem to be putting a lot on their plates to go through their break-up, but don’t they know that there’s a much easier and convenient way? Befriending a pint of Ben & Jerry’s over a chic flick solves all my problems.

Where’s pop singer Ivy’s “Leave Britney alone” guy when she needs one?

She’s had a pretty tough year, what with the allegedly violent and angry ex-boyfriend blackmailing her regarding an alleged sex tape that never materialized, and the subsequent airing out of the relationship’s dirty laundry, including accusations of cheating with fellow pop singer Wheesung. And the netizens have torn her apart over the smear on her reputation. It doesn’t matter that her ex was found guilty and sentenced to hard time for his blackmailing; a woman is accused of sexual promiscuity and the “slut” tag gets thrown far and wide.

In the wake of all this ugliness, Ivy resurfaced online on the 24th on her own fan cafe, explaining her long absence due to being sick and tired of the internet, sick of her name being in the news. She wrote to her fans, “I’m doing fine. I’m praying to erase all the bad memories in my mind. Since I’ve only been at home, I’ve gained some weight, and my health has gotten a little worse. Sooner or later, I’ll have a medical checkup done.” She added, “[My fans] were probably worried about me… This year, I hope for lots of happy things.”

Seeya’s Lee Boram and SG Wannabe’s Chae Dong Ha’s “secret” relationship is now public knowledge with Lee Boram’s recent confession on Star Golden Bell. When asked how they date, she answered that they do what “normal” couples do. They go out to eat, watch movies and sometimes take long walks at parks nearby.

The two R&B sensations have been dating 17 months and we hope that they keep it strong, especially because Chae Dong Ha is going through a mistake huge transition.

700 Elves gathered in front of SM office in Apku-jung yesterday, to fight against the formation of Super Junior sub-groups, for the sixth time. Elves are not only loyal but persistent when it comes to their favorite oppas, but what difference would an additional member or sub-groups make? Super Junior boys will still do their own thing and gather only once in a while for their 15 seconds of spotlight on stage.

Despite Elves’ loud protests, father SM hasn’t deferred his plans for Super Junior China. Furthermore, while the Elves were protesting in the freezing cold, Super Junior boys attended comedian Kim Kyung Shik’s wedding, enjoying the endless camera flashes and unlimited buffet.

J, the voice behind Goong’s theme song “Perhaps Love,” confessed that she’s involved in a long distant relationship with a fellow Korean American, who currently lives in New York on Sunny FM radio show Hello! This is Bae Chul Soo. The two met in 2006 and they partake in dates via video conferencing and telephone calls because they are able to meet only four or five times year.

Although her beau did not pop the question yet, she feels confident that it’ll be a “yes” when he does, but how can one be so sure when the entire relationship is based on scant meetings and skype conversations? Jang Geun Seok rocks Black ‘N Jean, “Black Engine”

Seriously, if there’s one thing Korea knows how to do right, it’s branded entertainment. They did it with the Anycall series (Anyclub, Anymotion, Anyband), and many of their commercial ad campaigns and music videos are high-profile and large-scale, practically like mini-movies in and of themselves.

This time, the male cosmetics line Black ‘N Jean has tapped adorable rising star Jang Geun Seok, currently paining me as the unemotional Chang Whe in fusion sageuk drama Hong Gil Dong, as their brand model. And they’re sparing no expense for what basically amounts to a glorified hair-product commercial, bringing in kpop hitmaker Park Jin Young, aka JYP, to write the song that Mr. Jang sings himself.

The song, “Black Engine,” is a play on the cosmetic line’s name, and is described as hip-hop electronica; it showcases Jang Geun Seok gettin’ his groove on while acting cool and sporting a variety of funky hairstyles.

The guy is totally adorable, I get it. And he’s obviously rocking the young hip urban thing, which is why it’s interesting that he’s made his name starring in historical dramas. Here’s the MV for the campaign, which officially launches the 28th.

Han Ji Hye graduates to “romance queen”

Actress Han Ji Hye returns to the big screen in the upcoming dramatic love story Humming as a mature, pure-hearted “romance queen” — the kind of woman with a deep love for “only one man” who must prepare for their separation.

Her recent projects have mostly been in television dramas — she’s currently in the KBS daily drama Ugly or Beautiful [Miuna, gouna] — and this’ll mark her first film since she acted with now-ex-boyfriend Lee Dong Gun in the 2005 romantic comedy My Boyfriend is Type B.

In Humming, she stars with Lee Chun Hee, as a devoted-in-love character, and describes the film as “a heart-breaking love story and a mysterious fantasy [that] are brought together in a fresh way to move hearts.”

The article — which reads like a press release — promises that “all of Korea’s women will sympathize with Han Ji Hye’s character, who falls deeply in love in this perfect romance.”

The movie opens on White Day (March 3) and, I dunno about you, but for me it contains every element I heartily dislike in a film. Overly earnest once-in-a-lifetime love story? Yep. Implied death by cancer or other tragically trite plot device? All signs point to yes. No plot to speak of (merely placeholder descriptors like “moving” and “deep” and “heartbreaking”)? Oh yeah.
