I have been without my laptop since Christmas day because it's all messed up and I had to send it away for a week or so. It's very tragic. I'm updating from my mother's old desktop. :P
1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before? Really got into my new job of processing and handling all the grad school files (and banquet waitressing as well), went to a midnight movie, met Johnny Depp...that's about it. ;) Oh, and made a mood theme, woo!
2. What words/phrases did you use the most? "For reals?" way, way too much. And Michael Scott's "yeeesh" (to the consternation of some friends and great amusement of others).
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No, but my cousin's pregnant and due in June. :)
4. Did anyone close to you die? No.
5. What countries did you visit? Nada. :P
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? One normal, full-time, predictable, boring job that doesn't make me want to pull my hair out and doesn't involve ice sculptures.
7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? There are a few, but I'll go with 3 December (I think y'all know why).
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Managing an A in History of the Universe and Law & Literature and scoring an extra $3,000 for tuition just by writing a letter.
9. What was your biggest failure? I feel like an idiot for getting a B- in that dumbass American Identity class, but that professor was insane anyway. I guess not having the foresight to actually make more friends, so now that when my few school friends are doing their semester abroad this spring, I'll basically be Unabomber-ing from January to May. O____o
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Not really.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Deathly Hallows, and a few great X-mas gifts for others that went over well.
12. Where did most of your money go? To the movies. Not gonna lie. A lot in the bank too, I guess, but...yeah.
13. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Harry Potter and meeting Johnny, of course. (I was seriously about to die.)
14. What song will always remind you of 2007? "Umbrella" by Rihanna.
15. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder? A little happier, because last New Year's Eve I was all fucked up over a guy, heh.
16. What do you wish you'd done more of? Maybe...talk to people? I think I'm a lost cause there.
17. What do you wish you'd done less of? Worry about things I can't help.
18. How did you spend Christmas? At my dad's in the morning, at my mom's in the afternoon and at my aunt's in the evening with a bunch of family.
19. What was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you in 2007? I don't know, my mom calling me to say she found an empty condom box in my trash (?!?) and that she didn't CARE or anything, but giving me a ten-minute lecture on how I now I had to get a new doctor, or something...geez.
20. Did you fall in love in 2007? No. I don't think so. I fell a lot more out of love. ("And though I'll think of you, I guess, until the day I die / I think I miss you less and less as every day goes by." -- Sweeney Todd)
21. What were your favorite TV programs? "Lost," "The Office" and "Pushing Daisies."
22. What was the best book you read? Deathly Hallows or Shantaram.
23. What was your greatest musical discovery? Hmmm...Regina Spektor, although that was technically late December '06, mostly, or Kate Nash (thanks, Pepe!)
24. What did you want and get? A single room at my dorm, a couple DVDs for Christmas and a video iPod in the spring.
25. What did you want and not get? My permit, or license or something. ;)
26. What was your favorite film of this year? HARD. Um...Juno or Sweeney Todd.
27. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Just hung out with friends and ate dinner; 19.
28. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Not living with my mother this summer.
29. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007? Hopeless. Vaguely sporty, comfort-focused and frequently less than flattering.
30. What kept you sane? My friends and writing.
31. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Johnny. Same as always, same as forever.
32. What political issue stirred you the most? Maybe seeing how incredibly badly we're handling the Katrina situation, or the war.
33. Who did you miss?
la_belle_ange, 619slemabov1, jean_prouvaire, and in the beginning of the year, a stupid boy who I now realize is not worth my time.
34. Who was the best new person you met? Some of my country club co-workers were pretty great (and das_mervin currently rocks my life, with her ST-love and great fic, although we haven't met...) ;)
35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007. "What's comin' will come, an' we'll meet it when it does." (Oh, snap!)
36. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. "Make a little birdhouse in your soul." -- They Might Be Giants. (I have reasons.)
BOOKS READ (probably incomplete because I can't remember them all, but hey) Crime and Punishment The Stranger Foxfire The Odyssey The Iliad (again) Things Fall Apart Into the Wild The Last of the Mohicans Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction Nine Stories Perfume: The Story of a Murderer Burning Bright Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close The Life of Pi Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Shantaram (almost done -- holy crap, is it amazing. And who recommended it to me, albeit somewhat indirectly? Yes, Johnny.)
