So my weekend... yeah!
Friday was my usual fabulous hang out with Neva and Patty and Dan and watch random TV night. Made better by good news (associated with my bad day last week, so once again, ask in person if you need to know.) Only thing of note is that when I settled up in my room I foolishly turned on the TV and found Children of the Corn on. I've never actually seen that one so I was busily watching when I started hearing scary noises in the house. Creeping around the house in a bathrobe clutching an aluminum baseball bat yielded no intruders but a firm belief that maybe I should hold off on the scary movies until another night, so I still don't know if Linda Hamilton lived through the movie.
Saturday: I woke up late, slept until 9 AM.. it was glorious. Since I had no plans for the daytime, I lounged around in bed reading books and watching TV. (Note: koralleen I am still reading those cheesy victorian romances by Julia Quinn... finally finished the stories of the 6th and 7th kids and reading the final one today!) Got up around 11 and promptly headed back up to nap around noon and was in bed til at least 3. REALLY glorious day. Eventually the evening rolled around and I did some busy work before heading off to Cruisin Thru Your Teens. This is one of my favourite Girl Scout events. An overnight at the Supreme Sports Club. I work at this event every year on the check in and check out desk. Normally this gives me a huge amount of time to hang out and chat with assorted friends in the middle part of the night, but this time the lady who normally runs karaoke couldn't come to work so I ended up spending 4 hours spinning disks for teenaged karaoke singers. We ran through about 70 or more performances. At least 5 of them were worth being there for (one of those was by me and my daughter *sigh*). I had meant to bring a chair but I forgot so I spent the whole night on my feet. Packed up everything and made it home by 6:30 AM ready to sleep. Which I did...
BUT WAIT!
Sunday: Every year, the same weekend as Cruisin there is a craft show in Gaithersburg. I can never go on the Saturday cause I nap in prep for staying up all night so of course I get up to go to that. Alarm went off at 9:30 and I DRAGGED myself out of bed. Had to get a very important prescription filled so I went and did that and then drove over to whimmydiddle's house and picked her up and we headed off to the Craft Fair. Lots of walking all over the place. Bought a couple of tasty snacks and a few small presents but utterly failed to find anything for Brinson, my stepmom, or for my mom-in-law, who likes goofy craft show stuff. It was fun though.
THEN we headed back home to Columbia where we met up with my kids, chickenhat and ksatyr and headed over to the Symphony of Lights Dazzle Dash. This is MY opening of the holiday season event. It's a charity thing that they do every year, before the drive through the Symphony of Lights thing opens, they do a one night walk through the lights to benefit the Howard Hospital Maternity Ward. It was fun as always, but by the time I'd done the walking necessary and got back to the car I was foot dragging and visibly failing. Made it home and intended to watch some Tribe with kSatyr, but I was asleep before the half hour was over. I have high hopes my kids put themselves to bed at some sort of a decent hour. i woke up completely disoriented on the couch around 3:30 AM, draaaggggeeeddd myself upstairs and conked out again.
Today I'm sore and tired but it was a really fun weekend and I'm glad I did it. Every once in a while you need to completely abuse yourself just so you don't miss any of the fun.
I would be sleeping now but the house is a TOTAL MESS and we leave for Thanksgiving tomorrow afternoon as soon as the kids and I both finish school (Rick is flying home from Hong Kong and will meet us up in Connecticut for Thanksgiving.) Gotta clean like crazy, take Aly to two different doctor appointments scheduled for today (well one is an orthodontist appointment *grin*) and then of course there are also school conferences tonight. And hopefully hanging out watching TV/movies with forexample. And cleaning out my car before we drive away. And PACKING my car before we drive away. AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Maybe I should nap instead.. put it all off *grin* but NO! I am strong, I am invincible.. all that femsongspeak!
Wish me Luck! |
