I think an easy way to save money on gas is to plan out your day. I noticed that I took a couple trips a day to the same basic area. Now that I need to really conserve gas, I try to really think about what I need and try to make those stops along the way home from work rather than to go home and then drive back the way I've just driven. It might not seem like a lot, but it's helped me save at least 1/4 to 1/2 a tank of gas a week. Those side trips really added up over an entire week!
