Stephen King talking about Duma Key

At the moment I am reading nothing but my own work! I finished reading Stephen King's latest book Duma Key yesterday & decided that I would do some editing of The Perfect Couple as opposed to moving straight on to the Hunter S. Thompson biography I have to read next.
So Duma Key, well I really liked it. I wouldn't call it the best thing I've ever read (that title still goes to Carrie & The Dark Half) but it was much better than the last Stephen book I read, It. The characters were really interesting in Duma Key & it wasn't as far-fetched as It & the way Stephen wrote it was very believable. The story just all-in-all was a really good story. So I would say that Duma Key is definitely worth the read & I would give it maybe a three out of five, it wasn't like 'zomg so good' but it wasn't crappy either.
Reading is important to me because I really want to be an author so reading other people's work helps me with my own writing skills. Reading Stephen King is especially important to me because I never really thought of writing my own books until after I had read Carrie. It's important to me because it inspires me & it's kind of like background research for my future job
I would recommend a whole lot of Stephen King, he's pretty much the only thing I read. & the specific books would be, of course, Carrie. I just can't stress how much I love this book. To me it is just absolutely genius. The Dark Half because it's one of the most mind-blowing books I've ever read & the gross parts in there are described so well that they made my stomach turn. Cujo, Christine & The Stand. I don't know about other books to recommend, but I suppose five is enough.
Oh! & I would also recommend INXS' Story to Story, that had so many great stories in it & it was a really great read about a really great Aussie band
I hope all of you yanks enough your R.E.A.D. day...whatever the heck it is
