A friend of mine over on MySpace pointed out to me there's an >arts and crafts show this weekend in Dripping Spring to benefit the Hays County shelter.
Hey, I like a chance to drive out to Dripping Spring as much as the next gal, I love helping people who help animals, and I love art, so this sounds like a win all around to me! It's at 2600 W. 290 - in other words, drive out 290 until you see it!
I have some things happening on Saturday but I think Sunday afternoon would be a fine day to drive out to Dripping Spring.
In looking at the Austin Chronicle, I see lots of other good weekendy stuff happening. Looks like there's a book sale at the Milwood Branch Library (that's up my way off Amherst not too far from Parmer) on Saturday, and at the Manchaca Branch on Sunday (as I recall, that's just south of 71 on Manchaca), Independence Brewing has something happening (I know that reanimated and captspastic are big fans).
People, there's a Charade Tournament at Salvage Vanguard Theater. Now doesn't that sound like fun! I can't go, because I'm busy Saturday, but still. Hmmm, ice skating at Whole Foods to benefit free smoke detectors, that's a win. Oh and Wheatsville has their arts and crafts show this weekend, too (although no telling where one can park there these days what with their remodeling they're doing). And of course the good times at the various farmer's markets (one of these days I'm going to hit up the Sunset Valley Farmer's Market).
So yeah, it's cold but it's not rainy, and since I can't have what I want with the rainy weather, there's no reason not to get out and at least get some enjoyment out of the sunny. |
