I just spent the past hour or so perusing washedupcelebrities.blogspot.com.  I found it because I was looking for a photo of Jeffrey Jones (Principal Ed Rooney from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off") that I could use in a snarky comment on JD's most recent blog.  There were several names in the index that I did not recognize, so I decided to see who these people were.

CLARIFICATION: "Snark" is defined multiple ways in the Urban Dictionary.  My favorites are "A often-overused phrase that originally meant a loving, yet evil kind of sarcasm. Now, spreading like crabs at a whorehouse to even the real world, it signifies the horrifying end of real humor as we know it." and "To clandestinely kneel down and huff the seating area of a female co-worker after she has been sitting at her desk all day."  I personally think of snark as more of an affectionately caustic remark, akin to laughter after one's friend has fallen painfully -- yet hilariously -- backward in his chair.

I have concluded that the person who maintains the Washed Up Celebrities blog is simply mean.  Although the writer may be attempting to be humorous, the litanies of arrests, drug addictions, inappropriate behavior and just plain quirkiness are presented in a fashion that seems intent on boldfaced cruelty.  Certainly many of these former celebrities often beg the negative attention with preplanned, highly questionable public antics, but there doesn't appear to be any element of empathy or even pity in the blog entries.

The worst offenses are the incredibly harsh comments about obesity and speculation about homosexuality, implying that the writer is both eternally fit and hates gay people.  The only redeeming quality of this site that I found was that it included a YouTube embed of one of Steven Seagal's most convincing fight scenes ever, from before he began using stunt doubles.

If you are a regular and enthusiastic reader of the Washed Up Celebrities blog, please feel free to remove yourself from my Friends list.  I'm the first to admit to some good-natured ribbing of celebrities who make astoundingly poor career choices, but this stuff is closer to suicide encouragement.
