So yesterday my boss asked me to write a simple service to move some move files over to a network machine every day. I haven't written any code in over a month so I was like jumping for joy on the inside. :D

Spent Single's Awareness Day on FFXI getting Samurai from level 68 to 71, then went and had dinner with my sister and her two roommates (one who I've known for a long time, one who I'd never met) which was a nice change of pace. So I have to fill out this big Questionnaire for National Security Positions for this job and... it asks for three people I've known well for over seven years to put as references for this Federal background check and... ...I've been wracking my brains for almost a half hour and I can't think of anyone. That's... kinda... bad...

So, Written in the Stars is over. I guess I have mixed feelings on this. But first let me say overall it was a lot of fun to read and write with everyone and BIG thanks to the hosts, TK, NS, Kriz, and Darkken! Merely participating and keeping up with everyone's writing wore me out; I can hardly imagine how much work it must be to coordinate one of these things. And props to everyone who participated...

Sorta. Got the job. I'm now working for a software company that contracts with the Navy so I'm working at the Navy base here in town. First week has been lots of paperwork and security hoops and doing CBTs and and staring at the walls being bored (and reading; haven't updated because I had no computer until today and 8 hours of being bored is really draining so I didn't feel like doing much the past...

Just got the word this morning. I'm getting axed in ten days due to company wide workforce reduction. I think my boss was more upset than I was when she told me. Coincidentally, I have a job interview tomorrow morning.

Haven't mentioned aikido lately I don't think. Class last night was a bit on the rough side... ushiro kokyou nage with some yokomen-uchi hijiyosai made for a couple sloppy rolls and some "wtf is with your gumby arms, Veers?" looks.
