one long week

It has been one very long week.  I believe I may have bit off more than I can chew.  At least Its not all fatty this time.   While moving I have also been in school full time and still trying to fit in my volunteer time.  I have decided to assist animals in need.  So, keep an eye out for some exotic fostering. Until then, I will be using my technical savvy to help in many ways.  I will be posting more...

Thank You Gustav

For not beating the crap out of my parents.  My mom's phones are still working.  This morning's phone call was worth it's weight in gold.  I am stoked that it is moving through.  I am noticing tornados and some power outages.   There's been 4.5 inches of rain in the past hour for Biloxi.   The grounds are very saturated.   There were a few old Navy Ships from the 1940's floating in the back Bay.  The...

Rain and winds are up in Biloxi and my father speaks up

So far just major gusts of wind and a heavy band of rain.  All this as the sun set today.  My mother is in Biloxi, but not in a flood zone.  After going through Katrina and the Vietnam War, I have much faith in my parents survival.  It is dark now and the storm is coming on stronger.   the ladies of the house are playing cards. Even in this state of emergency, my father still has time to speak his...

As I watch the news on every screen available...

I am also volunteering for any and all agencies possible.  The local news is now reporting that the Gulf COast os running out of fuel.  Gustav is now a category 4 hurricane and not yet entered the Gulf of Mexico.  THe waters there are in the high 70's and 80's.  For the hurricane, this is fuel.  Once it hits the warmed water and lower pressures, the storm will gain speed and intensity.  No matter...

Hurricane Gustav

Here I am, three years later in the same boot and I was during Katrina.  Then I caught the last flight out and cried for over a week.   That's how long it took to hear from my family.  This time I got out a few days earlier and still my eyes are glued to the National Hurricane webpage.  After seeing all of the video footage of what was left, I thought the worst.  My friend Long, is doing the same....
