Tales from CVS

Tales from CVS, by Adam the cashier. Wealthy shoppers at CVS can sometimes annoy me. I wear a blue shirt and my nametag says: Adam, Cashier. Let me tell you of a true tale of one such well-to-do shopper of CVS. I had just arrived to work and my first customer of the day arrived. She sauntered up to the counter with her basket of items, chatting merrily on the cell phone. (She had arrived earlier...

Downtown thats where all the lights are

I had lunch with an old friend today downtown Minneapolis. What a crazy place. I worked in downtown from 99-04. But I forget how busy, weird, exciting, the downtown can be. First of all crowds. At least on Nicollet Mall at lunch is like being at the State Fair. We ate at Chipolete's, two blocks away from the Hilton/Convention Center, the Minneapolis center for the RNC convention. Yikes. I have never...

Facebook

Why do we do these crazy things? I signed up for Facebook. YAY! I suppose. And know i am in the expansion phase of the Facebook where people sign up as "friends". The MISFITS crowd gives me an instant in with a large social group and I can understand friends here. But how soon will it be..where i am friends with your friends and your friends with my friends. Where does this friendship thing stop...

End of Times

The dream has ended. The path has changed. As 7th Stranger announced, we broke up. Sometimes, things and events change us so much that we end up going different directions. Life is like that. I have seen and heard of many times when couples break up in our Geek community. Sometimes its nasty and others times a relationship simply dies in a quiet whimper. I don't think ours was any loud or explosive...

Fellowship

Hi All, Hellziggy got me inspired to write something in Live Journal. Ooh Ahh! Not to mention I got two recent mentions in Friends' Live Journal. Hey thats big for me. You might all pay attention to it day by day, but I come on in only rare moments. Then somehow I have a burst of pride when some one mentions me, "Kerros". Now I feel silly. It just reminds how neat having friends are. "Ahh..ok".....

Semi Rant: Drinking

Here's my societal rank for the evening: Perhaps after dealing with death so close, especially needless deaths, I am sensitive to stupid deaths. Another young person died of excessive drinking. His friends were interviewed on the news, oh 'he was a wonderful person'. Who died, because he made a stupid mistake. So now I am torn, do I take the cynical view and say F**K it, he died and its another person...

Thank you!

The Memorial Service for my parents went excellent. Thank you to those of you that could attend this busy January day. Your support has meant so much to to myself and Jodie. I have a general weariness now but I am sure it comes more from emotional exhaustion than anything else. And yet there is so much more to be done. All the cards people wrote. Thank you notes. And finally off to settle my parents...

Personal Life Update

Ok Friends, I am now reading all about your lives and so I figure I should religiously update my LJ for your reading. Well we set up the memorial Service and its amazing. Well as amazing as a memorial for your parents can be. We found a list my mom had written some time back under "Songs to play at my Funeral". Morbid?, No, it's just my mom was the ultimate planner. It also makes it a heck of a lot...

Memorials

How does one honor a life or lives in a one hour memorial service? I struggle with putting thoughts to paper and then think if I am honoring the memories of mom and dad. Then am I using to much 'religion' or not enough. Finally there is the issue of who the service is for? Is it for the departed, or is a healing process for the living. I will try to follow the path between the both. We will honor...

PLEASE READ for SAT!!! Media request

Can anyone who has a TIVO or DVR please videotape the KARE 11 news at 5:00 (and 6:00) on Saturday, Dec 28th. My brother and I were interviewed about my parents and their legacy. The 15 minutes of interview will be cut down to a one minute spot, but I do appriecate the interview from KARE11. They were very nice people and asked excellent question. Thanks all in advance, Adam
