If things go well I might be showing you my O-face.

Before Chrome came along, I had a few things planned for this post. And now that I've sat on them for a few days, I can't remember half of what I was going to say. I do remember one of the important things, though. You may recall that in December 2004, I decided to move from LJ to Blogger . There were some good reasons why I made the move, and I wrote a lot of good stuff there. But almost nobody...

Google Chrome

I had other things to post about but they're going to have to wait. Google released a test version of their new web browser today, called Chrome . And folks... It is awesome. Chrome is based on Apple WebKit, which itself comes from the Konqueror browser' s KHTML software library. You don't really need to know the details, but basically it means Chrome is very standards compliant. First impressions...

Sonic Death Monkey owns the regular season

I gave you the midseason update back in June. Now we've concluded the regular season, and Sonic Death Monkey looks goooood. I wish I got some sort of trophy for winning the regular season... Anyway, I had said halfway through the season that my guys weren't playing up to potential but were still in 2nd place. They finally did play up to potential for a lot of the second half and ended up wrestling...

Sports Saturday (30 Aug 08)

It's that time of year again! Hard to believe the last time I made up a schedule was last December... Didn't make too many changes here. First off, Lincoln Financial (LF), which was Jefferson Pilot (JP), is now Raycom, which in Tuscaloosa airs on CW. Got it? Secondly, instead of listing Fox Sports South as FSN, I now have it listed as FSO. All the rest are pretty self explanatory, I think. (SPSO is...

MDB loses football tickets

I knew it was only a matter of time, and it finally happened: UA has decided to cancel 150 ticket orders by Million Dollar Band members. "The University of Alabama seeks to maximize the number of students who can attend home football games at Bryant-Denny Stadium," UA spokeswoman Deborah Lane said. "Because members of the Million Dollar Band are already admitted to football games, tickets ordered...

No football in the Olympics? That's bogus.

Con: A 160-pound Namibian wide receiver who learned his craft from a Jerry Rice coloring book goes over the middle and is flattened by a 240-pound throat-slash-gesturing strong safety from the University of Miami. If football becomes an Olympic sport, that scene gets repeated for like the next 60 years. -- http://www.asylum.com/2008/08/21/barroom-debate-should-there-be-olympic-football/

Walkin' the tightrope every day and every night

I've always liked Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Voodoo Chile," but I've flip-flopped on my favorite version. It used to be the studio version on "Couldn't Stand the Weather" because the audio quality was best and it had quicker pace than the live version on "The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan And Double Trouble." I didn't like how that version was agonizingly slow. But now I've come to appreciate it and that...

Recipe for relaxing night

Settle into recliner with Red Stripe and Maxim with a Nine Inch Nails concert on MHD . Tip: Try not to have to work at 10:30pm, and avoid laundry.
