OOC: The Director started off as a B-list villain. He's a big joke, no doubt born of sleep deprived minds and too much use of the shuffle function on the mp3 players of various people. But hey, not everything in Marvel needs be serious and dramatic!
That said, Song List, Part one! Because seriously, it's just no fun unless you know the music: 0. Nickelback - Photograph (pre-dance setup scene) 1. Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse Of The Heart (sung by Jeremy) 2. Fall Out Boy - Dance, Dance (sung by Jeremy) 3. Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time (sung by Jeremy) 4. Rob Thomas - Ever The Same (random choice before the DJ is interrupted by The Director) 5. The Weather Girls - It's Rainin' Men (sung by Storm, backed up by NPC Students) 6. Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, Pink (from Moulin Rouge) - Lady Marmalade (sung by Aerin, Jeremy, Rahne and Storm)

[XS] B1 - Gym ------------------------------------------------------------------ What looks like your standard high school sized gym is tucked away in the basement here. Basketball hoops that can be stored high up away from the floor sit one along each wall. As well, there looks to be a partition that can be pulled out, to seperate the room into two smaller half courts if needed. What catches the eye though, is the material that the floor and walls are made out of. In close inspection, one would notice that the surface is spongy, but at the same time, it feels quite durable. The gym itself is mostly powers proof, in case young students fail to keep any of their powers under control. ---------------------------- Players ---------------------------- [IC ] Aerin, Aidan, Blair, Bobby, Canvas, Doreen, Eira, Elliot, Harley, Hellion, Jafari, Jeremy, Joseph, Lawrence, Lucas, Mark, Paige, Rahne, Rich, Sapphire, Storm, Yoruko ---------------------------- Exits ---------------------------- [Ha]llway [S]torage [C]loset ------------------------------------------------------------------
The lights are dimmed down low in the Gym tonight, with red, pink, and white lights decorating the walls in long strings. There is even a disco ball hanging from the middle of the large ceiling, reflecting a bit of light in a few dazzling directions. A stage has been built along the far wall, where a number of instruments are set up, those of which include a large piano, drums, and a few guitars. All across the walls are large 'candy hearts' cut out of card board, with personal messages wrote in them from a few students to their 'crushes', or loved ones. A large sign is spread out above the stage, with the painted words: VALENTINES DAY BALL scrawled across it, highlighted with glitter. Beyond that, there is a number of smaller paper hearts cut out and taped across the walls. Red glitter litters the Gym floor, sparkling beneath the flashing of lights as feet tread upon them. What stands out the most, is tall, large ice sculptures of a number of different colors, which seem to glow, and pulse with life as a number of spot lights set up along the ceilings graze across it. Jeremy at the moment, is on the stage, testing out a guitar as his fingers work along the strings, quietly humming to himself in one of the microphones, doing a quick test. At the moment though, a bit of Nickelback is heard over the large speakers, playing one of their smooth, yet plucky love songs.
Sliding into the gym and looking rather spiffy for the dance, Luke is dressed rather nicely. He went all out -- a pair of nice khaki slacks, a haircut, shave, and long-sleeved button-up shirt, and red tie. Dark blue blazer, too. He is bringing in bottle after bottle of sodas, several of them in fact, to prepare for the dance. He glances at his watch, placing a few Mountain Dews down and checking his watch... It was getting close to time, and students'd be arriving soon. And Kaiden too, should she have remembered. He wasn't counting on it, though, considering what had happened a few days ago.
Amongst the decorations and colorful ice sculptures are hired caterers bustling about to finish their preparations before the appointed start time. Their leader, clad in more of a movie director's red beret and dressed in a grey suit for formal occasions, points towards one of the carts filled with mini finger sandwiches and a large bowl of punch. A few students are poking about already, chatting along the walls, talking about classes, training, the fact that some of them have never been to an event like this. What songs will be playing? Hope it's not lame.
Canvas also slides into the Gym, singing along with the song coming through the speakers. She, too, is spiffied up, in an oriental style backless red dress, with a thigh high slit in the side, strappy heels, and for once her hair isn't spiked. Her make up is minimal, more to accent than anything. A brand new look for the girl. If one looks on her back, they would see a pair of drawn angel wings, waiting for the beginning of the dance to activate her power. The last touch to her outfit, a pair of wings. Looking around, and spotting Lucas, she raises a hand and calls out to him. "Lucas! Yo!"
Jafari walks in and has a look around. He shifts around his suite jacket a bit, seeming a little uncomfortable in it. He walks over to where food is and starts to snack a little bit.
Entering the gym, arm linked in one of Leo's, Harley pauses just inside the door to look around the gym appreciatively. Her dress is a green with paisley, strapless, tight bodice with a free-flowing skirt that hangs just past her knees. The fact that she made it herself would only be noticeable to another seamstress, as the quality is pretty good. After the short pause she turns to grin at Leo as she tugs him further into the gym.
Dressed in a pair of khaki slacks, and a button down red shirt, complete with a black tie, Jeremy is on the stage, having finally grown satisfied with the strings of his guitar. With a bright smile, he slips it over his shoulder, and neck, letting his fingers start to work at the notes as they begin to play over the speakers. For those who are not 80's children, may take some time to familiarize themselves with the song. Instead of a piano, the Empathic musician makes the most of the guitar, while stepping up to the microphone, and starting to blast a Rock version of Total Eclipse of the Heart. Bonnie Tyler would be impressed herself if she was still singing these days. "Once upon a time I was falling in love, but now I'm only falling apart. There's nothing I can do, a total eclipse of the heart." He croons out in an edgy voice. "Once upon a time there was light in my life, but now there's only love in the dark. Nothing I can say, a total eclipse of the heart!"
Usually, the guy is supposed to be leading the girl, but as is most of the time with them, Paige is the one just about hauling Aidan along. The hayseed could just about pass for a big city girl, in a slinky red dress with her hair all done up and glittering with well-placed bits of crystal, eagerly rattling on to Aidan about something or other. He's busily nodding to her and doing his best to look thrilled about being here, though it just comes off like he'd sat on a pin and is trying to keep that fact a secret. She's somehow managed to get him in a crisp black suit, though likely he wanted to come in jeans, and actually turned him into someone quite handsome and respectable. His gaze immediately diverts to the far corner of the gym the moment he's through the door, but sure enough, Paige has other ideas and is booking it for the dance floor, something that has the briefest 'help!' look flaring up on the pyro's face.
Pretty! Rahne feels a small sense of pride, for the room looking so sparkly, she had a great deal of fun doing so, and it's nice to see folk actually here to enjoy it. The red head's been here since Jeremy arrived too, wandering around whilst people slowly arrived, helping out where she can ..right now, she's guiding some of the catering staff as to what goes where. The food looks good too, and the punch bowl is rather huge, the containing a pretty pink, fizzy liquid, sweet and tasty -- strawberries float amongst. Rahne's made an effort to look nice, after all how often does one get an excuse to really dress up? Her dress is a deep red, crimson almost and of a modest length. Though it does fit rather slinky-like, the thin straps leaving her shoulders bear. The dress has crisscross ties down the back. Heels! Heels even, taller than she's usually bother with, strapped around her ankles. Her makeup is light, lipstick to complement her dress, her eyes accentuated by a teeny touch of light rose shimmer. Rahne's left her hair down, but given a slight curl. It's too much fun to be girly sometimes, plus she had help! Rahne seems to be keeping an eye out for her mother, wondering if she's chaperoning tonight. Jeremy's song strikes up, and Rahne grins broadly, turning to watch a while.
Having begun filling some of the glasses with soda, Luke looks up, and blinks at Canvas. He raises a free hand toward her, waving. "'Ey, Canvas. Just doin' my thing," he remarks, shrugging and reaching up to pick at his own cheek for now. "Er... where's your man?" he asks her, genuinely curious and blinking. "Or is he meetin' you?" he asks her, canting his head. He checks his watch again, and hrms. Yes. It was time, almost. OR... no. It was time.
"Oooh, ah' love this song!" Paige trills out as she clutches Aidan by the hand, dragging the pyro out to the dance floor, purposely making a show of herself. She gives a bit of a spin, allowing the dress to flow along her legs, then tugs her escort close, sliding her arms around his neck. A bright smile dances along her painted lips as she allows him to take the lead in the dance, even if they are one of the few couples actually on the floor at the moment. ".. Yeehaw. I haven't been ta' a social in forevah."
Take it all in. Leo strides into the gymnasium with Harley by his side, and an extremely expensive looking white Armani suit accented by the silk forest green shirt beneath. There's no way he'd have the money for it, yet it's there and he's wearing it. How to tell it's Leo? The way he greets some students who look he and Harley's way.
Rich is the epitome of relaxed when it comes to choosing attire. Even for things such as a ball. Jeans. Nice, dark jeans that are hard to tell they are jeans in dim light, but jeans nonetheless. After all, comfort /is/ key. His hair curls about as normal , only the back portion on his hair brushes the collar of his black dress shirt. What do you know? He actually had a dress shirt. Huh. Relaxed smile, he strides into the gym, glancing around at the sights. Heh heh... FASHIONABLY late.
"Yo man! Lookin' sharp!" "Hey girl, oh my god you look beautiful!" Comments like these and more start to up the volume within the gym. Then the band starts to play. "Who's on stage?" "I hear he's alum." "Hey, he sounds good!" Granted, most of the students still haven't got the gumption to lead dates out onto the open floor, and more are coming in by the minute. The catering people continue their directed madness around the area. Punch cups are filled. Finger sandwiches and hors d'oeuvres line a multitude of tables all along one wall and down another. There's no skimping when it comes to providing for the students of Xavier.
Aerin never wears dresses. Never, never. Impossible to fly in those things, after all. ...But she's made an exception today, it seems. Hers is backless - there's the wings to consider - a dark blue to match her eyes, with a sparing bit of embroidery in gold around the hems. Hearing Paige's voice, the winged girl laughs, casting a grin towards her and the hapless Aidan. She, however, heads for the refreshments, claiming a cup of the strawberry punch.
Jafari isn't with anyone. Possibly one of the only ones. He stands near the snack table with a snack in periodically as he watches all the couples. Lonely much? Oh well. He plasters a smile on and looks around as if he's a very happy person. He doesn't know if he'll stay long.
Aidan looks about as keen and able to dance as, well, someone with no legs. The fact he has them ruins his chances of escaping. Rich's sporting of jeans doesn't help either, as Aidan is brought to inwardly glare. Oh, /he/ could come in them, but here's Aidan sporting some crunchy black suit. Bah! "Yah... I, um... spent these sorta nights in my basement with some friends, a twenty-four pack, and bad kung-fu movies." Aidan murmurs back to Paige as he tries to not just stand there on the dance floor, though likely, he'd make a better show of that than dancing.
Hottie.... Hottie.... almost Hot....Ew... God no.... Oooh There we go. Catching a glimpse of Canvas, Rich heads on over to the red decked girl. "Bit hard to find ya with all the decorations" He nods to all the ice sculptures, "Bit overkill on the ice."
Somewhere along the far corner is at least one chaperone for tonight. Professor Sutherland, aka Lawrence, stands by the storage closet for the gym and watches over things from afar. He's dressed appropriately as well, having chosen an older white military uniform. A faint smile touches his features at the choice of song being sung on stage to begin the dance. Ah, yes. Youth.
As a few songs end, Jeremy is smiling brightly like a light bulb. With the band behind him, the mood picks up as well, moving from one slow song, to now a full blown out energetic tumble. "I'm two quarters and a heart down! And I don't want to forget how your voice sounds! These words are all I have so I'll write them, so you need them just to get by! Dance, Dance, we're falling apart to half time! Dance, Dance, and these are the lives you'd love to lead. Dance, this is the way they'd love, if they knew how misery loved me!" The guitar in the Empath's hands screams in its electronic glory, while drums pound away behind him to complete the beat.
The doors to the gym are held open by two of the younger students to allow the entrance of Eira and Joseph. The Ice Queen, never one to be anything /near/ modest. She's wearing a form-fitting, almost too short, low-cut scarlet dress, which shows off her figure perfectly. Her lips are curved into a pleased smile as she steps into the room, her arm hooked around Joseph's, surveying those gathered like a monarch looking over her subjects, looking for a few in particular.
Giving a small whistle and thumbs up as Jeremy starts his song, Canvas walks over to Lucas to get her own cup of punch. Eyes glancing to the door each time it opens, she starts to answer his question when Rich indeed walks in. "Well, he's here now, so... Holy God, he's wearing a shirt with a collar!" Surprise. Shock. Maybe a bit of heart stop. Waving as he spots her, she grins. "Well, I figured red would be a nice break from the constant black." She answers, smirking. "Though, the wings are black." Oh, right! Wings, which she hasn't made yet. Activating her powers, black wings with silver lined feathers slowly emerge from her back and outstretch. "Ta-da, and Happy V-Day."
Still lingering by the punch as she watches Jeremy on stage, Rahne ladles herself a cupful of the lovely punch, snagging a couple of those strawberries by luck! Taking a sip, she steps to the distance between the punch, and the assortment of fingerfoods, there's not that great of a distance. "Not too bad, uh?" She calls out, -between- where Jafari stands on her left, and Aerin in the blue on her right, by the punch bowl. We're trying to get kids to talk here! Yes. They're kids! Only just 'cause she's graduated, an' all. Sooo grown up and all.
Snickering a little bit as the wings appear, Luke nods. "Happy Valentine's Day," he remarks, plastering his own happy smile on his face and continuing to tend the drinks as well, handing out a couple here and there. His own head glances toward the door every so often. Still nothing. His mouth twitches briefly, before he re-gathers himself. He glances toward Rich, and then Canvas, smiling a little bit. But he doesn't let himself get further distracted from his job..
Snacks, snacks, yummy yummy, snacks snacks! Oh the life of a single person! Nothing but snacks! Aha! Jafari slightly along to the tune. He slowly makes his way to the door. This ain't really his kind of event. Hopefully no one will try to drag him to the dance floor.
Sipping at her punch, Aerin looks over at Canvas and grins. "Nice," she remarks approvingly at the appearance of the other girl's wings. She steps away from the table a moment later, mindful of her own; coming off her arms as they do, they have an annoying tendency to get in everyone's way. "Nah, not bad at all," the winged girl agrees to Rahne.
Rich smirks, "Black wings? Great, we'll match." He looks over to Luke, "Ya just servin' drinks or ya gonna go dance?"
With a laugh, Paige doesn't seem to mind that Aidan can't dance very well. With a big grin to Aerin, she waves the girl over with a wiggle of her fingers, giving her boyfriend a playful push over towards her. "Hay! Go dance with Aerin, ah'm ganna get some punch, and try and catch up with a few of mah' friends!" She calls out with a laugh, catching a few of her pals from science class, who waves to her. With a lean up on her tippy toes, she presses her lips up against his for a brief, quick kiss, then clicky-clicks her way over to her group with her heels. "Hey Rahne!" She calls out as she passes by.
"Just doin' the whole thing for the Student Council and all that. I may." Luke shrugs his shoulder a little bit and continuing to shuffle, doing his thing. He glances toward the door again, hearing it click... no. Just some couple. He begins to chew the inside of his cheek, sighing a little bit inwardly. He hadn't expected much more than this, honestly. "I dunno," he finally answers, solidly, serving up another punch.
The Director, head caterer, continues along his route of making sure everything is going as planned. One worker is stopped along the way, distastefully regarded before an order to "Go change your jacket. You've a stain." is issued. Meanwhile about the room, the bolder of couples are out on the floor, rocking with Jeremy on stage for the fast songs, some dancing on the slower. One student, a young mousey brown haired girl known as 'Shutter' is making her rounds. Named as such because of her perpetual camera in hand, she accompanies another girl who's dragging her along to interview students about tonight's event. Particularly, students and their choices of wardrobe. "Oh! Oh there's Eira and Joe! C'mon, we /have/ to get the President on tape!"
Joseph strides in with Eira, wearin a rather nice suit. It's cut with a bit more western style, hair styled rather neatly, groomed as if he were royalty. He's not normally one for these sorts of things, but you don't get to dress up -too- often.
Rich looks at Luke blankly, "And you /volunteered/ for this?"
"Well, nobody /else/ wanted to do it," Luke remarks bluntly. Plunk, plunk. More ice is prepped, and punch ladeled. "Someone's supposed to take over for me, but depending on how things go, I think I just may stay manning the helm." Which, if Kaiden didn't arrive, yes, that'd be what'll happen. He keeps his eyes open for hands near the punchbowl, as well. Nobody's spiking his bowl.
A head of dark hair slowly peeks out around the corner and shortly after a pair of bright, hazel eyes look out into the gym, glancing around at the many people. Blair frowns uncertainly as she edges around the door and enters. Her hair, as always, is blooming with some kind of flower and tonight it's the sacred lotus. The flower girl has worn something that nowhere near modest and doesn't look as self-conscious as usual, perhaps inspired by someone else. She wears a snug dress of what looks like fine silk or velvet. It's in a shade of bottle-green with a lining of snow-white around the hems. Straps of emerald-green cross up around her neck, holding the top tightly to her. The front of the top covers her completely, revealing no skin to the eye, however in contrast with the back which is open to the air except for around her waist. The skirt fairly snug around her hips and legs as well, extending down to just above her knees. On her feet she's wearing a pair of strapped heels, around her neck a dark choker, beads of white lining it. She worries her lip and stands mostly near the entrance for now. Nothing wrong with being a /little/ nervous still.
Storm is, of course, a chaperone for the occasion. Thus, the dark-skinned teacher can be seen in a corner of the room, not far from the stage, sipping occasionally from a glass of punch. Non-spiked, one would presume. Blue eyes do scan the area, but she doesn't, yet, approach any of the students.
After singing Time, after Time, a great golden classic by Cyndi Lauper, Jeremy finally tears himself away from the microphone for a moment as he allows the DJ to continue on with the songs before he returns for an encore. As he makes his way down the steps, he beelines for Rahne immediately, offering her up a broad grin as he clears his throat. "You look beautiful tonight." He says as he takes one of her hands in his, giving the top of it a soft, gentle kiss. "Care to dance?" He asks his fiance as he tips his head to the dance floor.
Rich frowns glancing to Luke, "Whatever float ya boat I guess... Though, I /think/ everyone here knows how to get punch. Spoon's not that complex."
"Eira!" Harley calls out to the ice queen as she enters and crosses over to her and Joe. Thumbing a finger over at Leo, she gives Eira a grin, "I dunno how ya did it, but that's a righ' nice suit ya got Leo inta. Not that he's admittin' it was /you/, 'course." And amused chuckle at that, before she continues, "And e'erythin' come together jus' fine so far."
"Dude, that majorly bites." Canvas says, sending Lucas a pitying look. Punch duty. Ouch. Eyes once more roaming around the Gym, the tattooed girl gnaws on her lip and sighs. Standing on very tiptoe, she leans close to Rich's ear. "Too many damn people, and I'm suddenly not in a socializing mood. Wanna get the hell outta here?"
"Saves time," Luke replies again, his eyes come up, beginning to be annoyed by Rich. "And it gives me something to do," he adds. He glances toward Canvas, in a sort of 'please get him out of here' look. He continues to tend his glasses quietly, sighing again, a little inwardly.
"Huh-wha?" Aidan blurts out as his own girlfriend suddenly ditches him for so-called 'classmates'. Growl. Oh well, at least he can escape the dance floor, which he does with great and grateful haste in a beeline for the munchies. "Oy..." One can hear him murmurs as he rubs at the back of his neck, letting out a sigh of relief.
Lips curl upwards as Rich tilts his head towards Canvas, "If Everyone's here, game system's free..."
Giving the Aerin a grin, though she's somewhat disappointed that the boy decided not to partake in her attempt at striking up a conversation for him. Oh well. Rahne's enjoying the music enough to be happy just on her own for now! It's all pretty enough to keep her amused. Paige is given a laugh as she passes and she waves. "'Lo Paige!" She calls out over the music as the blonde passes. Ah, Cyndi Lauper, will never get sick of her. Ever, she has a sneaking suspicion she happens to like all the songs played, on purpose! As the song winds down, and pure instrumentals follow, Rahne looks quickly for Jeremy, smiling rather ridiculously as he finds her. "You're lookin' rather nice yerself." She replies with a smile, taking his hand. "You're doin' a great job." She nods lightly toward the stage, before she's invited for a dance! Yes, she really does have to stop herself from hopping on the spot! "Love to." she replies, at once, walking with him.
Eira flashes a smile to any who look her way. Nevermind the Horseman business. She's just fine, see? "This might actually go well," she murmurs to Joseph as they step further inside. Pictures are welcome, as the Student President is more than willing to pose for - or with - anyone. Hearing Harley's voice, she turns in that direction and waves. "Harley! Do you like it? /Good/. He does look great, and so do /you/. Turn around and let me see that dress!" she says with a grin, allowing the southerner a chance to show off.
Elliot, true to his word as long as it suits, hasn't breathed a word of where he got the suit he's wearing. Nope. But he is darn proud to wear it, and getting comfortable by the minute in it. "Yo Eira. Nice dress. Joe."
As the Director passes by a couple of the students, Canvas, Rich, Lucas... he just happens to pause and arch a brow at them. "Oh no, you shouldn't leave now. The Party is just starting." A mild smile is given to them. Not a very pleasant one from an iffy looking, bossy kind of man in a suit. Nevermind that. Stepping up onto the stage, The Director takes ahold of the mic and asks a single question to the crowd: "EXCUSE ME. AHEM. YES. HOW IS EVERYONE TONIGHT?"
Joseph gives a sidelong look to Eira. "What could possibly go wrong?" he says, smirk somewhat wryly amused. He gives a nod to anyone who happens to greet him, glancing around a few moments more. He blinks lightly as the "Director" takes over. "Something appears to be happening," he says simply.
Aerin snickers as Aidan flees the dance floor, setting her empty cup aside. She picks up another one, offering it to Aidan. "Here." The winged girl flashes a quick grin. "At least look occupied."
"That works for me!" Sending Lucas a 'You're welcome' look, and ignoring the Director, the spiffy winged girl grabs Rich's arm and proceeds to drag him from the Gym. Oh, fresh air and less than 5 people.
Rich glances to the suited wonder and gives a slight sigh, "Damn she got you in a /that/?" Rich shakes his head and pats Aidan on the back, "Ya poor thing. Hope ya enjoy tha rest of the nig-!" Rich's statement is cut off as he's being pulled away. He smirks,"We're doing great!" He shouts to the Director as he starts walking to the door.
Blair blinks up at the strange man on the microphone as she slowly inches further into the gym now. "Why did I ever let her talk me into this.." She mutters to herself before waving to a few students she knows. Which isn't really alot. She puts her hands behind her back and intertwines her fingers, still worrying her lower lip.
Harley nods to Eira, grinning, "Yeah, I like it." She takes the opportunity to give a twirl, more than happy to show off her dress. "I think it came out alrig-..." She's cut off by a loud shout through the speakers and turns to look at the stage. She doesn't offer a shout back, just a confused glance over at Eira. This...wasn't planned, /was/ it?
Glancing around toward the stage, Luke can't help but blink. He looks away as Canvas and Rich leave, so... he doesn't have time to say good night to them. However, he blinks... and at that moment, his attention is drawn from the punchbowl. He sighs a little bit, crossing his arms.
"Thanks.." Murmurs Aidan to Aerin as he takes the glass, downing it in record time just before his quest for food is pauses by the near bellow in the mic. "...right." He mumbles under his breath, brows scrunching up as he moves just a bit further away from the dance floor. He glances briefly aside to Rich and lets out a soft huff. "...ya, well, she owes me." He says with just that faint, suggestive quirk of his brow before looking back to the stage.
"Quite a shindig," Lawrence offers by way of small talk as Storm comes his way to the corner. "I'll have to give kudos for the team who set all this up." As the Director gets on stage, he pauses to glance over, though he doesn't respond to the man with the mic.
As Rich starts stepping out the door, he glances once more, "Have her pay ya back in fullllll...."
Planned? Not that Eira is aware of. She also frowns over at the Director, a brow arching in curiosity. She takes a moment to scan the rest of the crowd, to see if anyone else might have set this up, and thus her gaze settles upon the little Wallflower. "Hey, Blair!" she calls, her voice carrying surprisingly well. She grins and motions her over before glancing back toward the stage.
As Jeremy pulls Rahne out onto the dance floor, he grins widely as he wraps her up in his arms, starting to sway slowly in time with the music which floats through the speakers. The pair seem to have a natural rhythm between them as they glide, and dip, playfully allowing the young lady to be spun out slowly, just to be drawn back just as quick. As 'The Director' begins to speak, he pauses with her in his arms, glancing over to the stage with a lazy grin, giving a loud whistle.
Storm glances over herself. "We have had a lot of practice...and the student council has helped a lot, too." Ororo watches the students with a slightly wistful expression on her face. "Seems, sometimes, as if they just grow up so quickly."
Joseph gives a light shrug as nothing in particular is said to him as of yet. He moves along with Eira, just remaining quite in his thoughts.
Ah, much too perfect! Rahne likely looks like somewhat of an idiot for the grin on her face, Jeremy leading as she moves across the floor, lazily almost. Ow ow ow. The ears! Rahne cringes to the loud, too loud voice echoing out. Ouch. Rahne looks over her shoulder, it's hard to dance when the music is all drowned out by loud obnoxious 'director' types. Rahne laughs softly as Jeremy obliges the microphone guy with a loud whistle, Rahne resting her head on his chest.
Blair had actually stopped her little venture, perhaps thinking over just turning around and leaving. She jumps slightly when she hears Eira's voice however and offers a timid wave. The flower girl walks over, still looking a little nervous. "Hey, everyone." She manages to say, if but a little quietly.
Shutter and Mini-Joan Rivers (aka Brooke) work their way through the crowd. Though the destination was Eira before, the pair of interviewers have to pause and make sure to catch some more opinions on camera and tape. It simply wouldn't be good reporting otherwise!
The Director smiles that iffy looking smile again as students look up to him and respond. The DJ's had to turn down the music for now, giving the man opportunity to speak further. "WELL I'D LIKE TO THANK XAVIER INSTITUTE FOR PROVIDING ME WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO CATER AN EVENT LIKE THIS. IT IS TRULY AN HONOR TO BE SERVING YOUR NEEDS TONIGHT." The man pauses, glancing at faces and names. "THAT SAID, TONIGHT WE HAVE SOMETHING EXTRA SPECIAL PLANNED FOR YOU ALL. AN OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME. WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT IT?"
"How about turnin' down the microphone?!" Luke yells this out, twitching slightly. Sensitive ears, this one. Having heard Eira nearby, he glances toward her, and in the same respect, spots Blair, blinking. He cants his head a little bit, hrming, before looking back toward the stage, and 'The Director.' His eyes narrow a little bit, and he hrms, chewing on the inside of his cheek still.
"Yeah!" Aerin calls, supporting Luke's suggestion. The general clamor hasn't started to grate on her ears quite yet, but it's only a matter of time. The winged girl wanders over towards the snacks, selecting an handful and munching on them while watching the speaker on stage.
Right before walking into the Gym, Christopher takes a sip from a small silver flask and tucks it away before entering. Putting on a smile he walks in wearing a pair of jeans and a button down striped shirt. He spots Lawrence in the corner and heads over there. Not much sense in mingling with a bunch of kids, so he figures nows a good time to meet the new teacher. "Hello there, I'm Christopher." He glances over at the kids smiling, happy to see them all having a good time.
"People that ask that always got a catch." Aidan mutters as one side of his mouth tugs back in a half frown, one hand idly reaching out for a fistful of pretzels which he absently chews on while listening regardless.
"Eira..." Harley says, still with a confused look, "He...wasn't supposed to do anything extra, was he?" Without waiting for an answer, she starts weaving her way toward the tables of food, for one of the workers, to start a conversation about just what their employer is /doing/ up there.
Eira smiles over at Blair as she draws near. "Blair, meet Joe, Leo, Harley," she introduces in the pause between the Director's loud words. Of course, once he speaks again, her crystal gaze is back up at the stage, eyes narrowed. "Sounds like he's either about to start a selling pitch or a sermon," she states dryly. "I know nothing of anything /extra/," she adds, glancing back to Harley, her gaze following the southern girl as she heads toward the waiters.
Elliot gazes towards the stage like many of the other students who have looked that way now, all eyes on The Director. "Can't say the guy doesn't have a flare for the dramatic," he comments to the little group he's with, Harley and the others.
"Good to meet you. Lawrence," the captain replies, taking his gaze from the stage to the professor beside him. "Looks like things are picking up yet. Who's was the planner for this, do you know?" he asks of Christopher and Storm beside him.
The Director smiles again as crowd response is relatively good. The students are excited to hear about what's in store, yes? "GOOD, GOOD. WELL MY FRIENDS, TONIGHT'S SPECIAL TREAT IS THAT YOU ALL WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHINE. YES, LET US ALL BE EXCITED, FOR TONIGHT WILL BE AN UNFORGETTABLE NIGHT. A BRILLIANT NIGHT, FULL OF DANCING, MUSIC, LAUGHTER. COME, COME! WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO JOIN ME ON THIS GLORIOUS EVENING?" The man looks around over the crowd, over the faces. Then he spots the group of professors in the corner, and the shockingly white hair against creamy brown skin of the beautiful Storm. Of course! "Come my dear! Show these students what real entertainment is like!" The man's lips move off the mic, turning and he utters something those up front close to the stage would be able to hear. An immediate effect comes over much of the crowd, as students start to cheer. "Storm! Storm! Storm! Storm!"
Joseph gives a dip of his head, "Pleasure," he offers before he too glances up at the announcer. He gives a light shrug to Eira, indicating he has no idea what's goin on either.
Glancing around the others, Luke blinks toward Eira. Okay, time to unman. "Hey. You. Watch this bowl." He points to a random party goer, and gets the response he wants, before moving through the crowd toward Eira, arms crossed. "What on God's green Earth is this guy playin' at?" he asks toward her, over the cheering. The cheering is, of course, hurting his ears, and he winces accordingly.
And anything else Lawrence might have intended to say goes unspoken. Storm simply smiles a little...and then heads up onto the stage. What is it...Teacher Karaoke Night? She's wearing, incidentally, nice slacks and a red shirt that's almost metallic in color. Several of the students also move onto the stage. And it starts raining. ONLY on the stage, mind...and not actually touching the performers. And Storm launches into song. Thankfully...she has a sense of pitch: 'Hi! Hi! We're your weather girls, ah-huh. And have we got news for you! You better listen! Get ready, all you lonely girls and leave those umbrellas at home. Alright!'
Blair appeared to have become more at ease, greeting back everyone who greets her when she joins Eira's group, that is until that 'Director' starts shouting again. She looks a little.. frightened and uncomfortable as he continues. She looks outright confused when the students suddenly start chanting Storm's name. Obviously something is very wrong here.
Aerin drops the snacks in favor of covering her ears as the cheers and chants start up. She grimaces, stepping back from the tables. "Gyeh. You'd think I'd know better by now," the winged girl mutters. Lucas' movement draws her attention, and she wanders over towards Eira in his wake.
You page, "The plan for the dance was to have this human sorceror kind of guy who posed as the caterer take over the dance and turn it into a huge musical number. For fun and entertainment, of course. He uses a magic spell to take control of people's bodies and manipulates them to do things according to his vision." to Christopher.
Aidan keeps inching slow but sure towards the door. Just in case he needs to bolt. He'll deal with an angry Paige later, because this is about as much as he can take at the moment. First a suit, than dancing, and now some crazy dude who enjoys his job too much. No thanks, there's a computer upstairs with his name on it.
Even the DJ is getting into it. The sound of a thunderstorm crackles through the speakers as 'It's Rainin' Men' by The Weather Girls is summoned into the atmosphere. Truthfully, this song ought to be considered so out of date by the crowd of youths, but hey they look to be enjoying themselves by the loads. The Director points to a trio of female students, again speaking in some language that is definitely not English or any recognizably spoken words in the world today. And it's like they've lost their inhibitions about joining Storm on stage, hurrying up during the intro of the song to grab up the extra mic that have been connected for band members. Backup singers. Oh god!
And it looks as if Storm's enjoying herself too. Which should probably alert people that something's not right...she doesn't look like a total ice maiden. And where the heck did she get an umbrella? Possibly, already on stage. She opens it...never mind that she's not wet, and starts to move back and forth in front of the backup singers. "Humidity is rising. Barometer's getting low. According to all sources, the street's the place to go. Cause tonight for the first time. Just about half past ten. For the first time in history. It's gonna start raining men."
The horror won't end it seems. "Are people usually this.. umm.. energetic at these parties?" She asks with slight concern. Energetic, that's a nice word, not insane which is the word she was actually thinking of saying. She looks worried now and once again begins to worry her lower lip, "I think something's wrong.."
Eira can only offer a confused look to Lucas and all others who head closer to her, shrugging a bare shoulder. The sight of Storm signing 'It's Raining Men' with student back-up singers, though, almost makes it worth it, and she even smiles a bit. "Well, parties usually are somewhat energetic, even if this is unusual." She looks over at Lucas. "Any of the profs set this up or something?"
"As far as I know? You know how Professor Munroe can be," Luke remarks, frowning a little bit and shaking his head toward Eira. He glances back to the stage, ears focusing. And he cants his head. "... Is he speaking latin? No... too many syllables..." he mutters lightly, before glancing toward Blair... and nodding. "Er, hi," he adds as an afterthought toward Blair. "And... I think she may be right."
Harley's conversation seems to be rather fruitless, as there's even a point in which she stomps her foot at the worker, and promptly turns toward the stage to go to the source, as it were. On her way there, Professor Monroe takes to the stage which, at first, gets a baffled look from the southern girl, but as she gets nearer to the stage, she can't help but cheer Storm on, apparently accepting of this little change in plans now.
A little late as usual, Julian Keller opens up the doors to the gym. His cobalt blue eyes look around the decorated gym, a nod is given. Then with the view of Storm singing 'It's Raining Men.' a hearty laugh is let out. The boy from Beverly Hills is dressed in a handsome looking suit, his hair styled with extra care. He spots Eira and moves closer towards her.
Joseph rubs the back of his neck. "Okay," he says simply and looks off again. He then moves off to get him some punch. That'll probably help.
Of course, the song doesn't last that long, but she doesn't leave the stage right away, rather stepping back and looking, for a moment, as if she's about to decide what to sing next. The rain does, slowly, peter out. Drip. Drip. Not that *she* is wet, of course. But no, this isn't like Storm at all.
Aidan is thoroughly eyeing the door like he'd like to bolt, but likely thoughts of dealing with a very angry girlfriend keep him from doing so, forcing the pyro to scowl as he eyes the stage and those on it. Bah.
Blair looks a little hesitant at first but nods in agreement with Eira. "I guess.. but Iunno.. something just seems weird about this." She manages to spot Harley getting into the swing of things and taps Eira on the shoulder. "Well it seems like your friend is enjoying herself." Though once again, it comes to be rather odd to Blair that the transition was so quick but she doesn't voice this, not wanting to be a wet blanket.
"Holy hell," Leo manages to comment, staring at what's going on stage. He only just tears his gaze away from the show, looking to Eira and the others. "You mean you guys didn't plan this?" His arm in Harley's tenses, pulling her towards a side where he considers might be 'safe'.
Lawrence stares at Storm up on stage as well, casting a glance towards Christopher with a 'Is this ... normal?' look to his features. Concern sweeps over him for the crowd as they push towards the stage, but nothing serious just yet.
The Director marvels at his work, moving down from the stage as the girls and Storm take it, walking along the crowd and speaking the words again and again. There's a moment as he spots Aerin, Jeremy, and Rahne amongst them. Perfect! PERFECT! "Go! Get up on there, enjoy yourselves!" he says to them, urging. Transitioning from the all too fitting song about weather for the goddess, comes a different tune. This one is much more familiar to the recent pop culture, as sultry beats move into 'Lady Marmalade' from the musical of Moulin Rouge. Movie version.
Yoruko comes in a little late. She has been looking for Mark, but he had a previous engagement in the city that demanded his attention. Dressed in keeping with the theme she has on a light colored dress. Not pink.. that is not her color.. but a pale blue. For the moment she stands at the door silently watching.
"Hey sister, go sister, soul sister, let me hear ya'll flow sister!." Jeremy sings out loudly as he finds himself drawn to the stage once more, not exactly by his own will. As he takes the microphone, he begins to work it easily with his smooth, powerful voice. With a gleam in his blue eyes, which seems to take on a euphoric glow, he croons out. "He met Marmalade down in old Moulin Rouge! Strutting her stuff on the street. She said: "Hello, hey Joe, you wanna give it a go?!" With a spin of the mic in his hand, he lets out a silky rumble of baritone. "Gitchie Gitchie, ya ya, da, daaaah -- Gitchie, gitchie, ya ya here... Mocha Chocolata ya yaaah.. Creole Lady Marmalade!" Without shame, the young entertainer moves, and dances in a sly strut along the stage as he is joined by Aerin and Rahne, shifting his weight from side to side as he dances.
Eira just has to /stare/ as Jeremy, Rahne, and Aerin start in on Lady Marmalade. "Yeah, you're right... Something is definitely wrong here." Narrowing her eyes and seeing that Joe has moved off, Eira starts to move closer to the stage watching the Director suspiciously as she circles closer.
And Storm, is still singing along, just no longer in the lead. And dancing. She...isn't a dancer, but she can move. And, apparently, sing...quite a pleasant voice, really. The 'weather' on stage has changed...a little warm, the rain from earlier rapidly drying away.
Sapphire looks like a person, who's seen better days. She has heavy bandages and gauze wrapped around her head, large pads over her eyes. It still looks a tinge red, as if they're starting to bleed through a touch. Massive bandages stuck all across her back. Her arms are scarred up, with haphazard band-aids all across them, and her fingers are in gauze as well, tinged red. The dress she wears, has turned a touch red from the bleed-through in back as well. She moves into the room, knocking over a few things with her wings. She has her hands outward, as she walks forward blindly.
Blair /gapes/ at the trio on the stage as well, nodding her head quickly in agreement with Eira and Lucas. She hesitates at first but follows after Eira. After all, that guy could be dangerous.
"Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir? Voulez vous coucher avec moi?!" Who would've thought that those up on stage would be so wonderfully talented in their musical synchronization. It's almost uncanny. Aerin the winged girl on stage grabs that mic, rapping it out and capturing the crowd's attention. "We come through with the money and the garter belt, let 'em know we got that cake, straight up the gate, we independent women, some mistakes us for whores, I'm sayin‘ why spend mine when I can spend yours! Disagree? Well that's you and I’m sorry, I'm a keep playing these cats out like Atari! High heeled shoes getting love from the dudes, four bad ass /freaks from Xavier's Institute!/ WOOO!" Her wings flare dramatically as the chorus hits stride again, and despite its wingspan she maintains distance and doesn't knock a thing over. The crowd goes wild, cheering the performance on.
Also late, Doreen Green walks into the gym for the dance. Unfortunately, they don't make nice dresses for girls with tails, so she is just wearing nice black slacks with a slit cut in the back, and a nice white blouse. She blinks afew times at seeing the stage; she never actually expected to see those people sing. She scans the room with a bit of a baffled look on her face.
Frowning, Luke crosses his arms, and moves toward the stage after Eira. Uh oh, Big Dogs of the Student Council are moving forward. And yes, it is uncanny, considering Luke had /never, in his life/ seen /any/ of the people on that stage practice music. And he's a musician, himself. "It just doesn't add up," he remarks to Eira, flanking her.
Red.. the color of Valentine's day, but the blood flowing from Sapphire is not at all romantic. Standing by the door she hears it open and looks back spotting the girl. As Sapphire bumps into her she moves her to the side "What happened to you." she whispers softly. She doesnt have to whisper, but she does so.
As Hellion moves over to the punch table, grabbing a glass, and taking out a small camera, popping a few pictures of those on stage, he sees Eira in the viewfinder and lowers the digital camera. "What he hell." Is uttered between a moment of laughter. Then his curiosity gets the better of him, he moves to Eira and Luke's position. "Queen, this wasn't planned was it? Cuz, it was funny before, now it's a bit creepy." Hellion asks to Eira.
Sapphire reaches up to manhandle Yoruko's face with her covered fingers. "Is that you Yoruko? I can't see you..I can't process your voice recognition pattern. It sounds like you. I went to times square to sit with the birds, but there was this man who ripped up the entire street last night. He was hurting people, with a man with a bubble field. I got...I don't know the word. Angry? I came down, and tried to make them stop. He started hurling cars, and laughing. He said because he's mutants, that thier better than other people, and they had to remind people of that by hurting them. When I tried to stop him, he hurt me..he hurt me real bad. He shattered all my internal parts, can't see..can't communicate. I don't like the idea of people getting hurt. I don't think I like being a mutant anymore."
Woah, What's this? Rahne apparently has no fear in a situation where she would normally. -Normally- be blushing a storm, and slinking away into the corner without so much as mumbling a word. No so. Rahne's into the music with abandon, letting the music guide her hips, as the lot of them dance without concern for the fact they're doing so very publicly. Rahne as her mic, letting the others get the words out, from the beginning, as the ticking cowbell beat takes Arein into the French chorus ..a show of hands for what she's actually saying folk? That's one phrase that everyone seems to know. Alas, Rahne grins, joining in on the 'whoop!' as the winged girl cleverly alters the lyrics to include the school, rather than the famous dance hall! "Hey sisters, soul sisters, bettah get that dough sisters." Rahne finally chimes in, sliding a little closer to the left, smirking. "We drink wine with diamonds in the glass, by the case the meaning of expensive taste." Nodnod, the music seems to carry. "You wanna gitchie, gitchie, ya ya. Mocha Chocolata. What? Creole Lady Marmalaaaade."
"Hey! HEY! HEY!" Jeremy roars out through the Mic as he bends his knees a bit, letting his voice echo through the crowd as he throws a fist out. "Marmalaaaaadeeeee." With a sway of his body, slinking up close to Rahne, he belts out. "Touch of her skin feeling silky smooth, hey, color of cafe' au lait. Made the savage beast inside roar until he cried!" As one arm wraps around Rahne's middle from behind, his cheek rubs up against hers as his hips slowly grind and sway against her as the pair seem to melt into each other as they dance in a slinky, sexy number. "Now he's living nine-to-five, living the grey flanneled life. But when he turns off to sleep, memories creep.. More.... More.... MORE! MOOOORE!" He howls out in his rich, throaty rumble.
Yoruko frowns a little as Sapphire explains what happnes. It does sound like she is malfunctioning. Though the problem is that something seems to be distracting her. Something in the music drawing her to the stage.
Eira shakes her head to Hellion. "No, this wasn't planned. And while it seems /harmless/, I think it's something we ought to investigate. Maybe..." Her eyes narrow. "Who /is/ this guy?" She glances at those near her, her mind grasping for a plan, but slow to think of one.
Oh, and don't forget the latecomer. Well if it isn't Mark Gellantara, the schools newest sissy. casually strolls in wearing a near solid white tux, except from a distance it could almost be confused as something pink, because of the red trimmings. He casually walks in with a soda in one hand, and just glances around the room for a moment or two, before glancing to the stage, and almost shooting his drink out his nose. Some however does dribble out his nostrils.
Sapphire doesn't seem to realize that Yoruko's drifting off, so keeps talking. "Anyway..I almost died, but I didn't, so it's not really a big deal. I mean, it could be worse! I mean, if I malfunctioned again, and my fusion effect went off in times square, a lot more than just 1042 people would've died, so there's something to be happy about! I came to the dance, so I should be able to find a boyfriend, right? I hear they're supposed to kiss you, and hold you, and do stuff. I'm not quite sure what other stuff they're supposed to do, but it's supposed to be nice or something. I've been trying to watch people when they start kissing, but they always get annoyed and tell me to go away, while I'm hovering over them. I offered to pay two people to let me watch, but the lady said that'd be prostitution. But I don't think so. I watched something on the discovery channel, but I don't think that's how people do it. I mean, I've seen action figures and barbies without their pants on, they don't have those kinds of parts."
