'I'll be there for you, when the rain starts to fall, I'll be there for y-'
"Hello?" I'm getting used to waking up with a pounding headache. Rubbing the sleep out of my eyes with my free hand, I struggle into a sitting position. Who would be calling this early in the morning?
"Kai-nii-san!"
"Chihiro!"
"I haven't heard from you in ages, Kai. Why haven't you called me? You know I miss you." My half sister sounded like she was pouting into the phone, which she probably was.
"Sorry, Chi, I've been busy. How is it our at your mother's?" Wincing, I clambered out of my bed. Washing those tables had really taken an affect on me. How would I be able to survive another day of table washing?
"Fine... Finally getting along with that new stepmom of ours?" I could hear the malice in her voice. I shrugged, even though there was no logical way Chihiro would be able to see it.
"She's okay. We manage." I could hear muffled voices on the other line.
"I have to go, Kai-nee-san, promise to actually call me later! I miss you and love you!"
"Bye, sister. I miss you and love you too." Placing my phone back on the nightstand, I finally took a look at the time. 10:00 AM? It wasn't as early as I had thought! I needed to be at Marvilles Boy's Home for Troubled Teens in less than ten minutes! Okay, Kai, don't panic.
"I've had to tell myself that a lot lately..."
I was already twenty minutes late, so I figured I could skip around to the back of the house and sneak inside without that scary receptionist being any the wiser. I was already on my way to the lunchroom's back door when someone called out my name.
"Heey, it's dear Kai again!" Uruha stood a few feet in front of me, holding a spray can and grinning his usual grin. Wait ...a spray can? Oh no! What if I'm at the scene of a crime again! Uruha could be vandalizing the school! This isn't good! What if I wa-
"Hey, hey calm down, dude. You look like you're about to hyperventilate." He gave me a puzzled look. "What's the matter? I'm not going to kill you."
"The spray can!" I sputtered out. I couldn't be caught at the scene of another crime, I'd have twice as many volunteer hours to do! Uruha just chuckled, giving me an almost patronizing look. He elaborately gestured to the wall behind him and solemnly said,
"This, my dear Kai, is the grafitti wall. It's perfectly legal, sane, and they even payed some guy big bucks to put it in." I looked at the wall and couldn't hold back a gasp. The expanse of about twenty feet was covered in grafitti art. I don't mean the gang symbol with cheap paint kind of graffiti, I mean good, talented artist kind of graffiti.
"It's gorgeous!" I cried out, staring particularly at the large tiger that took up most of the the middle of the wall. "Who did all this?!"
"Me and Reita, mainly. It's the whole reason we're here in the first place - we just can't seem to keep out hands off other people's property." Oh, so they're in for vandalism. Wait, I'm consorting with a vandal!
"But Reita did the tiger, he wouldn't let me touch it. It looks nice, I guess, but if I had done it I'm sure it would've been ten times better!" He shook his head. I gazed up at the tiger again in awe.
"I think it looks pretty nice..."
"Yeah well, I bet you think he looks pretty nice too, the way you were staring yesterday."
"No! I just hadn't see a noseband before.." I trailed off, realizing Uruha was laughing at me. He patted me on the shoulder and sang out,
"Just teasing, little buddy! Wait... aren't you supposed to be doing some kind of community service right now?"
I gasped. Now I had to be extremely late! Nodding to Uruha and taking one last glance at the amazing grafitti, I raced to the lunchroom.
The line of boys getting food was much smaller today, and I figured that Sunday must be a free day for them to go where ever they wanted. I didn't see Aoi or Ruki from yesterday, but the first person in my serving line was a certain multi-colored wreaker of havoc.
"Hi!" Miyavi exclaimed, looking a bit more haggard but just as bouncy as he had before. "You never answered my question yesterday, Kai-kun."
I stared at him. A lot had happened to me in the past few days, and he honestly believed I would remember some question he asked? After a few moments his face fell.
"I was talking and Aoi dragged me away. Remember? The pot! Have you ever tried pot?"
"What?! Of course not! Isn't that terrible for you?" I stared at him.
Miyavi suddenly became very serious. "Now, Kai-kun, it's about the flavor of life! Sure, some silly people say that it's bad for you, but who believes them? Think of the high! I can party for hours when I'm free from the effects of being clean!"
"Miyavi! Get a move on, I'm hungry!" It was Miku, the boy who Uruha had stolen a tray from yesterday. He was standing with a blond wearing a jean mini-skirt. I gaped. Wasn't this a boy's home?
Miyavi seemed to notice my bewilderment, and he leaned in close and whispered conspiratorially,
"Kai-kun, that's Bou-chan. He's set more things on fire then the number of times he's been mistaken for a girl."
I squeaked. Were all these people really crazy? In the past two days I had met a druggie, two vandalists, some shoplifters, and now an arsonist?
"Yeah, Miyavi, get a move on. I'm hungry as well." I recognized the low drawl of thst voice immediately. Looking up into the steel grey eyes of Reita, I added to my list, Oh yeah, and one of them might hate me.

Author's Notes: Bou as an arsonist will always make me crack up ^_^ And druggie Miyavi is back :D
Sorry is this was boring, I'm not sure if I like this chapter or not :/
There's still a few more characters to introduce, but after that we'll get into the swing of the story!
Also, I just love the name Chihiro. Imagine Kai's sister looking like Chihiro from Spirited Away, okay?
