CHAPTER 6

Jared continued to sit at the table sipping his orange juice. Maybe he had reacted a bit roughly and scared the guy… Well, he wasn’t feeling guilty enough to apologize, he had bled enough for Jensen to be able to afford it.

The older man looked at the blood on the driver seat and made a disgusted face. But this didn’t stop him. He was grateful to Jared for saving his life, but the face he showed today didn’t scare him but it confused him. Just for a second in his memory came the picture of Jared’s wings on his back and Jensen shook his head. That was it, all of his doubts were gone. Better dead than more confused. He jumped in the car, he was lucky, the keys were in the ignition and he hit the road as far away as he could away from the Falcon.

Jared heard the screeching tires of the car and was out in a flash clutching a gun in his hand. He went out just in time to see the vehicle about thirty meters ahead and gaining speed. His eyes darkened. He took a deep breath and started forward, going faster and faster and with larger leaps of his long legs. At one moment he pushed off the ground, flew in the air and landed directly in the path of the car, turning and meeting Jensen’s eyes. Part of him dared him to hit him.

Jensen was shocked. He hit the brakes to avoid running over the crazy man in the way of the car and it spun madly around. When it stopped, he hit his forehead in the wheel. He put a hand to the throbbing place and got out shaking.

-         Are you out of your mind?!? – Jensen shouted to the taller man. – I could have hit you! What the hell are you doing! I don’t want your protection anymore!

-         I am saving your life. You may be stubborn but I am more so, believe me. You don’t have an idea what you’re doing. You may not know these people who are after you, but I do.

-         Yes they are going to kill me…Save it I heard that before… - Jensen was on his way to saying “You are more dangerous for me.” But he bit his lips and shut up.

-         No, they are going to make you beg them to kill you. – pointed out the assassin, his face very serious. – They are going to beat you up, cut you up, shoot you, then heal you and start over again.

-         It’s better than, and I quote: “I am not a toy. I get what I want when I want if it’s not against the rules. And nowhere is it written that I can’t screw your brains out.” Or someone’s tongue invading– Only when Jensen remembered this he felt how his legs couldn’t handle him but he took control over himself pretty fast.

-         No, it isn’t. It’s just one of me. They have about ten men in their group. Imagine what they’ll do to you just for fun. – Jared raised his eyebrows for emphasis. – And besides, you got in my face on purpose. I didn’t wake you up with water because I wanted to be mean, it’s just the way I used to wake up.

-         You could shake my shoulders or shout to me! Not try to drown me in cold water! Its something called humanity! What the hell are the people here doing! Did they kill every single feeling of tact in you? – Jensen still was shouting shocked by the fact that he could have killed him with the car. – I understand that my parents are not my parents, that I have special blood and that I am rich with over two millions just for two days! This is too much info for me! All I needed was one peaceful day god damn it! But nooooo! The tough killer Jared a.k.a. Falcon had to rule!

Jared listened to him shout patiently then raised his hands in the air, his face cold like stone to successfully hide the stinging ache in his chest.

-         Okay, do what you want then. This is the way I live, I don’t know any other. Take it or leave it. - He strolled past Jensen and back towards the house wondering why he was feeling hurt. They were just words after all, they couldn’t make you bleed. Tomorrow he would get back to the organization where no one made him feel abnormal and make him hurt with just words. He had tried to help, well, being a good soul wasn’t such a good idea. He should work on that.

-         Why in the hell do I have the feeling that I’ll feel sorry about this… - the shorter man mumbled under his breath and turned around with his bag in his hand and was following Jared. The other man was good. Jensen could see that. But all the things he had lived through had changed him and put a stone mask on his face. Yes Jensen had done it to make him angry at breakfast just to call out the human Jared, to see his face and not the one of the killer Falcon. It was strange for him but that man saved his life and was still fighting for it. And Jensen decided to fight for the human Jared to bring him out to the surface.

Jared went straight to the fridge, feeling relieved that Jensen was following him but still hiding it. He took out a beer, then plopped down on the sofa and opened it, going back to his task of cleaning the guns.

Jensen went back to the small room and put the pants on without anything else. He put black bands on his wrists and went out of his room going back to Jared.

-         Well are we going to start your training or are we going to waste the day?

Jared looked up from his work and eyed Jensen up and down, then raised his brows again.

-         What do you want to start with? – He was curious.

-         How am I supposed to know! You are the man with the knowledge…So are we going to start or can I go back to bed?

-         Okay then… - I shrugged and stood up, still naked from the waist up. – Come with me... – I exited the house and entered the barn beside it. The walls were cement. So was the floor. On the walls hung various pieces of equipment. I stood in front of a massive boxing glove. – Hit that.

Jensen’s eyebrows rose up. Okay…He had never gotten in a fight so now he felt a little bit uneasy. He struck towards the glove and succeeded but a grimace of pain came to his face and he started to shake his hand.

-         Ouch! That hurts!

-         Yes. I want you to hit it twenty times more. – Jared leaned on the wall and sipped his beer which he had brought with him. – The motion comes from the shoulder. Use the weight of your whole body, not just the arm.

-         Okay… - Jensen mumbled, he was pretty sure that his hand would look like a balloon after this. He started to hit again and again with all his strength. Jensen could feel how every single muscle under his skin was moving with his body, he felt the sweat from all this physical pressure but he would never give up so easily.

-         Good. – said Jared after the first strikes, he was getting the hang of it. And he took the opportunity to watch the sweat drops fall down the other man’s bronzed skin.

-         Just shut up if you won’t give me any clues and tasks. – He hissed. Taking out human Jared out could wait. Jensen actually liked this pressure and the tiredness which was following every single move he made.

Jared just shrugged and went back to observing him. Oh, Jensen had such potential. He could become strong, stronger than him, stronger than any of them.

It wasn’t necessary for Jensen to watch Jared, it was enough that his back in the fridge with those moving wings was in front of his eyes. He started to hit more viciously. And the sweat was falling like a waterfall from his face to his chest.

Jared absently tapped his fingers against the beer can with his eyes still trained on Jensen’s body. Okay, he was seeing the first sparks of the adrenaline flow through him, maybe soon he would be able to use the special vision.

At that moment Jensen felt again the lips of the other man on his, and then the tongue…And he got angry with himself because he was thinking about this. His hits became stronger and stronger until the boxing glove just fell apart. Jensen’s gaze was glowing with anger and a lot more things which were hard to recognize.

Jared raised his eyebrows, looking impressed. Jensen’s hands were bleeding but he wasn’t paying any attention to that, and it was a good sign too. Pain got in the way and clouded the judgment.

-         Anything else? – Jensen asked without looking at Jared until his chest was rising faster while he was trying to take breath.

-         Yes… - he said as he left the empty can on the floor and rolled his shoulders. Jensen had something that wanted to come out and it was a major energy booster. – Hit me. – He said, standing a few paces to the side of the other man.

-         Come again? – Jensen looked at the other man in shock. Yes he was angry at his stupid tattoo and his mad tongue…but to hit him…

-         You heard me. – said Jared evenly. – You have to get used to it. Come on, hit me as hard as you can.

-         But… - Jens blinked and said fast. – Idontwanttohurtyou! – All came out in one breath. And he hoped that meaning wasn’t like in his head. Damn what was wrong with him?

-         What? – Jared blinked at him. Why wouldn’t he want to hurt him? He had rammed Jensen into the wall threatening to rape him less than an hour ago.

Jensen saw the opportunity to run away from his words.

-         I can’t hit you…I’ve never hurt anyone and I can’t start with you…You saved my life.

-         Okay, Enough training for today then. You busted your hands anyway. – He wasn’t ready yet. Jared pointed at the bucket in the corner. – Sink your hands in there. It’s full of the healing liquid.

Jensen’s muscles were still trembling under his wet skin when he passed Jared without even looking at him. Just now he could feel the pain in his hands and paid attention that they were actually bleeding.  He put his hands in the bucket breathing heavily. “I knew that I was going to feel sorry if I came back…” Now it was even harder to get out of his head those fucking trembling wings.

Jared was sitting on the ground with his back to the wall and his hands clasped on his bent knees. He leaned his head back after seeing that Jensen was taking care of his wounds. He didn’t want to hurt him. God, he hoped it wasn’t in the way he thought it was. Otherwise they both were in trouble. God, that man was too sexy when he was sweaty. To stop his eyes from sliding at the other man every two seconds Jared closed them, sighing a little.

The older man just finished caring for his injuries and turned around to go back to his room. But then he saw Jared and froze.  The situation really was going to be bad. Jensen swallowed silently when he saw the view which Jared presented. He ducked his head and ran out like a twister, going back to his room and as far as possible from Jared.

The assassin opened his eyes when he sensed the other leaving with quite a speed and then just closed then again, sinking into his thoughts. It was surely impossible, Jensen didn’t think highly of him. Why did he decide to stay then?

Jensen undressed faster than he ever had before in his entire life and went into the bathroom to take a cold shower. He wasn’t feeling it at all. He was deep in his thoughts. This was madness. Why was he thinking so often about Jared’s tattoos, the kiss and now this view of him sitting on the ground with closed eyes. That wasn’t normal! Not at all!

After some time Jared’s phone rang.

-         Yes.

-         Where are you? – came a woman’s voice.

-         Safe.

-         Is he alive?

-         Alive as he can be.

-         You know, the boss is furious.

-         I figured. It’s not the first time.

After the shower Jensen felt relieved. He chose a pair of old jeans and a white shirt with the first two buttons unbuttoned, an old habit he had. He again had control of himself and could face Jared without any of those crazy thoughts flying in his head again.

-         Okay then, call if you need any help.

-         Will do. Thanks, Lucy. – Jared hung up and tucked his phone back in his pocket.

Jensen looked in the day room. Jared wasn’t there maybe he was still in the training room that’s why he took a beer from the fridge and sat in front of the TV, there was some football match which caught his eye.

Jared got up and walked back to the house and saw that Jensen was in the living room.

-         Are your hands good? – He asked, sitting down on one of the armchairs.

-         Yes, thanks. – For Jensen this was stupid so he tried to ignore what had happened earlier. He used to live in peace with the people around him. – I think I owe you an apology about earlier today…I provoked you and you just reacted… - He mumbled under his breath

-         Accepted. – nodded Jared, his eyes following the game after leaving Jensen’s face.

-         At least now I know who sank the Titanic … - Jensen whispered to himself. That guy couldn’t be colder than this.

-         Well, I don’t have anyone to break the ice around me. – It was said evenly just like he said everything.

-         If you always act like this I’m not surprised… - Jensen drank from his beer and some of it slipped out and dripped down his chin.

-         See how you’ll be after you see your family burned alive.

-         I can understand you in some way or another…but this doesn’t mean that all people are the same like those that started the fire. It seems that you don’t give a chance to anyone…You have your guns and your job is that enough?

-         Enough to be happy? No. Enough to be alive? Yes.  Don’t start this Oprah stuff with me again.

-         Sorry that I’m trying to be your friend at least. – Jensen said locking his jaw. – It won’t happen again. I promise.

Jared shifted his eyes to the other man, exasperated.

-         Oh, come on, will you quit with that. Will you just TRY to give me some time to come around? Damn! – He got up started for the training room again. He had to get a new boxing glove on.

-         Yeah sure… - Jensen said with eyes on TV screen. Maybe this way was better and he would stop thinking about this damned kiss or those stupid wings. “Chicken.”

Jared went to the training room and hung a new boxing glove. Then he realized he too had some energy to spend. He rolled his neck and began punching the heavy sack, quick and accurate, like a bee going for a sting. Smack, smack, smack could be heard as he hit again and again, the muscles on his back rippling with every move.

Jensen felt bored it was stupid, with all those fights they were like a couple in a long relationship. He shook his head to banish those thoughts. The sound from the training room came even here but he took the control over himself and now the last thing which he wanted was to see those wings in his mind again. But curiosity was stronger. Jared was his teacher also and he had to watch his trainings too. That’s why he slowly stood up and went in the training room. I leaned on the wall and this time didn’t pay attention to the wings the other man was moving so fast that Jensen could hardly see every move. He tried to focus but then again those hallucinations started twisting his gaze. He put hand on his temple and used the wall for support. OK not now…but it was stronger than him his vision was clouded. And now it seemed that it was easier to catch Jared’s moves and those of the tattoo too. Jens moaned a little trying to clear his vision.

-         Don’t fight it. Just slide over the pulsing in your eyes and clear it… - said Jared without turning around. He had felt Jen’s approach and the little sound he made trying to get rid of the vision. He punched the sack, and then leaned back, allowing it to go past him. When it came back, he continued to hit.

-         I… - Jensen couldn’t keep talking because he tried to do what Falcon said. He focused on it and now could see every single move which Jared made. But the worst of this was that he could see the vibrating moves of the wings on his back. “OK that’s enough! I’m out of here.” Jensen thought because he could feel how tiny drops of sweat were emerging on his skin.

Jared was panting a little by now, the sack lost its shape to some extent. But he wasn’t hitting so hard as to wound his hands or bust the boxing glove for the second time. His hair was a bit wet, so were his chest and back. At one point he simply stopped hitting and turned to the other man, the ends of the tattoo on his biceps vibrating in time with the muscles under it.

-         Now you’ve got it right. – The desire to kiss the other man was back and he took a step forward before he could stop himself.

-         I’m not sure that I want to get it right… - croaked Jensen because no matter how strongly he wanted to run out of there his eyes stuck on that vibrating biceps of the other man. He could see every single move of the muscle even the smallest and the way how tattoo was moving over the golden skin.

Jared continued to come closer, one slow step at a time and stopped when he was right in front of the other man, his head bent down a little and his eyes watching him intently. He was giving him the chance to leave if he wanted. And leaving no doubt what would happen if he stayed.

Jensen met the gaze of the other man and felt shivers starting to move over his body. Everything was clear…If he didn’t leave now, Jared would kiss him again, but this time he also gave him a chance to choose whether to be kissed or not. The things which happened today were torture for him enough. He had the clear idea that he wouldn’t stop thinking about the tattoo and the kiss. He also wasn’t sure that he wanted to run away especially when he could hear every single beat of Falcon’s heart. Jensen didn’t know why he heard it, he just stayed lost in this sound.

Jared waited a few seconds, noticing the slight change in Jensen’s eyes, but not becoming hostile. So, it was as he had been suspecting. He knew how to be tender… he hoped. He hooked a finger under Jensen’s jaw and tilted his face up. Just as slowly he bent a bit more, brushing his lips over the other man’s with none of the brutal force he had shown before.
