Wonderings of a noob.

I was reading the post about V:TM by rian_al and they mentioned LARPing. I was wondering what the appeal of LARPing is and why some would choose it over table top or even to go with table top. Oh, and who here does it, prefers it, tried it, etc? Thoughts? I kind of know what it is but I don't understand it fully. Since I have never tried it, I'm not here to say "blah it sucks" or ...
