[Click to enlarge. From Legends of the DC Universe #15.] I ran across this ad last nite, and thought it deserved a wider audience, given that Warren Ellis concluded this fine series just last month, with issue #27. A review here: http://comics.ign.com/articles/103/1033093p1.html The series: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planetary_%28comics%29 Posted by Paul DiFi.
Tired of all of those surveys made up by high school kids? 'Have you ever kissed someone?' 'Told someone you loved them?' 'Drank alcohol? Here are some questions for the people who are a little more mature 1. What bill do you hate paying the most? The old credit cards. They represent a time when my head was screwed on a little less securely. 2. Where's the best place to eat a romantic ...
This week, I purchased and read issue #27 (the finale) of Planetary , the first issue was published 11 years ago – the series took a ludicrously long time coming out, but I loved it. Warren Ellis mostly writes two sorts of stories – fairly grim tales of deeply screwed up people destroying themselves and the people around them, and fairly optimistic tales of heroes cleaning up the messes ...
So first off: Thank you to all who responded to my previous post . In particular, a Planetary -sized "thank you" to the gentlemen who've (be)friended me. You're collective presence is of great comfort. Anyway, to the list. In no particular order: Watching The Colony — Very interesting. What intrigues/impresses me most is just how clever & resourceful is human ingenuity. Like ...
For anyone interested, the final issue of Planetary (number 27) will be on sale in October. Why is this postworthy? Issue 26 came out October... 2006, and the first issue came out 1998? Numerous delays for various reasons yet if you have not checked it out, there are tradebacks available :) I first found out about this comic a couple years ago after a random searching on wiki brought to my ...

Embarrassing revelation time: I used to get Jeph Loeb and Geoff Johns confused. I think it was the fact that their first names were both irritating variations on the same root name, that both of their last names were short, and they both came into my awareness at about the same time. But rest assured I'll never mistake them again. Loeb's been helming the suckfest that calls itself Ultimatum , ...
You knew it was too good to be true. You said to yourself, "you know, this guy talks so much about pop culture, I'll just bet he's really a fanboy - in spite of his defensive claims to the contrary." Or maybe even BECAUSE of those defensive claims, I would guess. I suppose I probably am a fanboy of something - at least to one degree or another. But I'd submit I'm probably a very moderate ...
Cable guy came by this morning to evaluate our Internet - he replaced the line from the pole to our house, and the box on the pole - looks better, but they're sending out another truck on Monday to evaluate some more. I'm just glad it's not an "inside the house" issue. I suspect with so many folks using Verizon around here, we may be the only Comcast people using that particular line. (side edit,...
This weekend was more fun than should be legal to have by one person at one time. I spent the whole time sitting on my ass, eating and talking to fabulous people. Sometimes all three at the same time. J and I hung out with our friend Ilana, who's now renting a house with her fiancee, we spent like 5 hours talking about our military experiences and having cocktails, champagne, wine and tea with ...
