Well, the sore throat is a cold.  Minor, but still.  I'm drinking a lot of tea, and took a nap this afternoon for a bit, trying to head it off before it gets worse.  I hate being sick!

Husband and I went looking for granite this afternoon.  The first place seemed to probably be on the pricey end (they send a guy around with you to write down the slabs you like and to answer questions).  We started out fast, adding lots of cool pieces to our list, then found 2 that we really, really like.  One is called Bordeaux, which is a red-orange with black and cream running through it.  The other is Purple Boreal, which is black with shocks of white and reddish-brown.  The favorite right now is the black one.  Husband would like to do the whole kitchen in it, but I think we should save the really expensive one for the island and go with a plain black like Mesabi Black or Starlight for the perimeter.  We also went to Cold Spring Granite, which was a little more laid-back and let us wander the place by ourselves.  We still gravitated toward the Bordeaux.  Husband wants to call the first place and order the black right now!  But we still have to think about the style and color of the cabinets as well as the flooring when we make the decision.  Plus the price, of course.  It's overwhelming.  The more I think about it, the more confused I get.  The pictures below are taken from the wholesaler's website, but I think the black one is the exact piece we were looking at - the lot numbers match. The Bordeaux is the same lot, but not the same slab.

Builders were here at 7:00 am, which was probably a good thing.  I don't know what time they wrapped up, as we didn't get home until after 4:00 pm, but we had gotten a little rain, so I'm sure they packed it in before then.  Made some progress today - they got the little roof up over the bay.  Looks kind of lopsided now, but they will extend the roof line toward the front of the house so that it evens out a bit.
