Review 1x10 Asylum

Finally \^^/
I was looking forward to this. Asylum is one of my favourite episodes of the whole season. I like the really scary parts (which gave me goose bumps watching the first time) and the two boys in there. First time we will have a glimpse of evil!Sam.

Let’s dive into the Roosevelt Asylum and the scary mind of Doctor Ellicott.

Review 1x10


This is an actual abandoned asylum, if I remember correctly. Jensen talked in an interview about it. Like some people told him NOT to go through the third floor. But he did. It was dark but he thought, “it isn’t that long, right? and that way is so much shorter”
He walked through it and it scared the hell out of him^^
I tried to find the clip somewhere but I couldn’t. (I found so many other funny things though^^)


Remember this staircase? It’s the same in Bloody Mary and will be the same as in ImToD 2x01.

*yay* Dean’s wearing the nicest shirt he ever possessed \^^/ And he fits to the surroundings^^

Caleb, Jefferson and Pastor Jim. Guys we actually never heard of, but they both know them and trust them enough to ask about the missing dad. Interesting.


Sam’s getting pissed about the fact, that dad’s still hiding. That he wasn’t there in Lawrence. We know better, ne?


Dean has to sit down, after e got the text message which is from dad for sure. It’s a proof that he’s still alive. You can see relieve on Dean’s face.


And you can see the pissy-ness on Sam’s^^ And dad could barely work a toaster? *giggles* must be a lot of fun having breakfast with them. The great hunter burn his fingers early in the morning?


Sam didn’t iron his shirt^^ And look how tight it fits^^ The first button is almost under pressure.
Dean’s pretty and wonderful red shirt seems to be ironed^^ Or he just folded it when he got rid of it the night before.


*laughs* the painful/pissed/hepless/Dean-listening face is just cute.


Well thought, guys^^ Sending Sam in there as “saviour”. Dean is such a good bad-boy. I didn’t think it might have worked the other way around. And Dean looks kind of surprised by the amount of strength Sam used on him.


Again a counted number. How do you show “two” with your hands? This time I’m with Sam. I use the second and the middle finger, too^^


Puppy Eyes will work of course.


I like the discussions on the car roof. The car between them makes them better in talking and listening, I think. Because that early in the series they tend to be a bit overreacting sometimes when it comes to the dad. And Sam’s still pissed that they have to follow him blind.

Of course Dean has to tease Sam. First, because it’s easier than to admit he’s worried and second, because he’s the big brother and that’s what they do to little brothers when they find a weak spot.
But Sam at least is admitting that he has strange vibes sometimes.

Jack Nicholson – One flew over the cuckoo’s nest. A guy gets into an asylum to not be charged for the times he broke the law and finds some really bad things going on behind the walls of the asylum. Nothing supernatural, though.

It’s a classic horror-movie. A boy shot his whole family and pretends to have heard ghost voices which made him do it. It’s based on some true rumours^^

I totally love it when Sam turns into Geek!boy.

And look at that: Sam is getting pissed. Again. 11 minutes passed and two times of Pissed!Sam. Thank goodness he didn’t get used to it.
Of course he wants to see dad (and maybe pick a fight) but it’s not Dean’s fault that he’s not here. Although Dean probably had known they won’t find him in the Asylum.

You can almost hear the unspoken words “or people will die!” from Dean. Or am I imagining things?

Have a close look at this scene. He’s pulling back his hand like he had burned it or touched something wrong^^

Second: What the HELL? Why does the doc know his real name? It’s dangerous!


The talking with the psychiatrist is pretty funny^^ Sam’s trying to tell something without telling anything^^ And you can see how much “fun” he had with his brother^^


He’s sitting like the doc is gonna attack him every minute^^


That talk would scare the hell out of Dean^^ I wonder what he’s telling the doc. Damn you Kripke for not showing this scene^^ (Dear Kripke: Don’t take it personal. I love you for making me hate you)

Seriously, if my boyfriend would take me out on a date and bring me to such a place… he wouldn’t be my boyfriend anymore!

Normally I don’t have problems with dark places. But hunted dark places? No way I’m going in there. Flickering lights? I’d start to run. Someone kissing me? I’d scream.


Why is Sam using the camera? And what does orbing mean? I couldn’t find a good translation.


See? Sam’s smiling. Okay, half-smiling. Or at least moving one side of his lips. But he’s giving Dean at least some reaction to his half-joke^^


I HATE it. That really creeps my out. Someone moving in my back without making a sound. I don’t like it during the day when someone’s standing behind me and in the nights its worse.


*cries*


We’re still in the beginning of Supernatural. Sam is calling for Dean to help him^^ But the well trained commands still work. Sam gets down immediately as soon as Dean yells.


Sam does the gun-flipping thing. Just with his flashlight *____*


Silent conversation \^^/
Dean: Great, teenagers who wants to see some real ghosts. Wonder how many more we will find in here. And by the way, that’s exactly the SAME reason the others died in here!
Sam: Dean, you were young too, once. And you did a lot of stupid things.
Dean: Yes, but I’m not the subject here.


Interesting. Dean get’s the girl while he’s leaving his baby brother walking alone in the hunted asylum. Maybe he finally starts to have faith in Sam’s strength and ability to do something on his own without protection.


Best sentence by Dean: When someone says a place is haunted, don’t go in!


Just… because he looks so young and cute.


Is it just me or does Dean’s you son of a bitch sound kind of hot?^^


They look both so surprised that Sam’s idea actually worked^^ And they go doublemint-twins with room-number\^^/


Stupid, stupid girl. With that question if Dean is Sam’s boss she made Sam thinking and maybe this is the reason for his reaction later. Or at least a part of it.


Finally a tough girl that can protect herself. There are a lot of tough girls in the series^^

Sam uses this tone only for calling Dean when he’s worried^^


I know they are hunters and they have to face ghosts, but… I mean, come on! Flickering lights, doors open by themselves, they got separated? It’s kind of obvious, isn’t it? ^^


He can’t believe she tried to shoot him. His face is priceless^^


First I thought, maybe Ellicott did something to Sam. But after he lied to Dean and told him he didn’t see the doc I knew for sure!

I just LOVE the little details and all the hidden things they have in their dialogues.

Evil!Sam’s first appearance. It was kind of scary.


And all the nice words and trying to get through to the real Sam are not working ;_;


Dean in pain aches to watch. There is this little nerve in my stomach that tightens when one of the boys is in pain ;_;

But to the main point of this scene.
The things Sam is saying, might not be true completely but there is a true core. He’s still (!!) pissed about Dean following dad’s orders and not asking questions or at least for once stands against dad.
And he’s mad about Dean getting dad’s approval for following him blind.
Again a scene, were one of that had to get mad (or possessed) to be able to talk about the inner feelings *sighs* oh those boys


Sadly it’s not one of the guns with the nacre-handle. I like those guns^^ (Actually I like them so much I spent almost 4 hours to make a good layout for my LJ^^)


Again. Dean lying on the ground, panting and holding his chest makes the nerve twitch.


I was so sure Sam wouldn’t pull the trigger. I was almost 100% sure. But that was before I learned that Kripke isn’t an average producer. He’s that good because he’s making the boys do things no one would expect. I mean, he even doesn’t hesitate to kill people we started to like or love. Like I said before: Damn you, Kripke for making me love you for hating you.


Dean’s face and disappointment is heartbreaking. He also didn’t believe Sam would shoot him. But he’s still alive because he’s good in what he does and because he’s not believing in fate. He’s cautious. And he never gives a loaded gun to someone possibly possessed. That’s a good advice^^

Some strange doc is messing up with Dean’s brain and still he’s able to function and to figure out a way of surviving. He’s so well trained and a hunter thoroughly.


Again the pain-face ;_;


Now, when the Evil!Sam had left Innocent!little-brother!Sam and the doc has turned to ash, Dean’s getting pale. *hugs him* You did great, Dean. Now you can rest.


And another emotional moment. At least for Sam. He apologizes but Dean’s not ready yet to forgive. Hell, Sam SHOT him. I wouldn’t forgive him, too!
