I discovered a book I'd written several years ago and had forgotten about. I was shocked actually. I'd revised it several times and put it away thinking no one on Earth would care to read it. I glanced at it again recently and found I still liked it. It made me laugh. I'm glad I didn't dispose of it.
As a critic I've read so many books I've disliked. But many more I've liked. It cheers me to read a diverse range of writers. And even in books I've not particularly cared for I usually find something of value.
It's important to respect words. Use them wisely.
Appreciate the ability to read, to discover worlds through words.
My friend Lisa's working on a novel called Magical Pictures.
Novels, stories, plays, screenplays become magic when we value word pictures. To create imagery through words. What a gift!
The Fortune Today?
You Will Be Rewarded For Being a Good Listener
Okay, so maybe it won't be the Nobel Prize. Could be a pat on the head, a dinner? Llistening without judgment may enable someone to get through a difficult day. A reward isn't necessarily something visible. Could be a kiss or a smile? Or just a joyful peace that washes over you like an unexpected summer shower.
Just let someone know you care enough to listen fully, to not interrupt before someone has finished telling you something that's important to them. I sometimes find it difficult to listen without inserting unasked for advice and recently I have been making more of an effort to listen. Words are like music. notes creating a song. If you don't listen to the whole song, how can you truly appreciate it?
And when you do speak, appreciate your words whether written or spoken. Don't disrespect your words.
