The Prisoner. Man, that was just awful. A story of a very boring man trying to figure out a deep, complex mystery that I don't give a damn about, told in a pointlessly complicated way. None of the charm, wit, subtlety of the original. It's like they just decided to take some of the trappings of the original and graft it on to a crap story and cardboard characters, and throw in heaping amounts ...
Let's start with the biggest, most recent (except Heroes which has gone dumb again)... Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars. It was... okay. Started out a little lame (the monsters were not terribly entertaining, but then they didn't have to be, they were just a sideline to the main thrust of the plot). Started to get good towards the end. And then, RTD drops the ball again. (Spoilery thoughts ahoy)...
Continued from last post . First post of this whole series is here , for explanation purposes. Before, I continue, a few comments on the last part that LJ didn't let me post cause it was too long: But I might as well also use the chance to talk a bit. This part was a bit hard to write, taking me longer in the first couple issues (except the first) than most of the rest combined. I really ...
This is year 3 of my Runaways Alternate Volume 3 . See that post for explanations of what this is all about. Last chunk is here . A bit rushed due to trying to get it out before NaNo month, so excuse typos. Runaways #28 Solicitation: (cover: Not released along with the solicitation. I'll mention it when we get there) Chase and Victor have found themselves in a small town that's got big ...
Here's my yearly entry for One Hundred Words of Horror ... only a few, sort of ran out of time and didn't have much inspiration so they're not my best, but I do like the tradition and wanted to come up with something. Prognosis The surgery went very well. Your husband is responsive, and the new organs are functioning better than the old ones. Prognosis is good. I had to remove more tissue ...
...of them are all kinds of easy. 1) Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents," grumbled Jo, lying on the rug. - Little Women by Louisa May Alcott guessed by newnumber6 and tattycat ! 2) The year Janet started at Blackstock College, the Office of Residential Life had spent the summer removing from all the dormitories the old wooden bookcases that, once filled with ...
...of digests, it's hard to believe that 16k is. Last month I said I thought the title would probably be safe til issue 24, but with continuing slides, I'm afraid I'm starting to concur with newnumber6 . Issue 18 and then a hiatus seems likely while Marvel formulate a long term plan. I don't think cancellation at this point will be the end for these characters, by any means, but I do think ...
Continued from last post . First post of this whole series is here , for explanation purposes. Let's get right to it. Runaways #23 Solicitation: (Cover: A Nico cover, in the style of a 'FaceSpace' page) A Little Help from My Friends, Part Four Has Karolina's eye been drawn to another? Will Nico enter the scary world of Internet Dating? Will Victor's oldest friendship come to an end? ...
Okay, so here's a continuation of my last WIDW , which was what I'd do with if I was writing Runaways Vol 3 (in outline form, rather than full script or anything. Read the first post for my general rules of play and explanations for this, and of course for the first batch of issues. We'll start here with the next 12 issues, #12-24 (spread over two posts) I'll post the solicitations again,...
Finished: Weapons of Choice , by John Birmingham Thoughts behind the cut. Short version: Enjoyed the premise, execution was a bit dry and uninteresting at parts. Not many plot-specific spoilers ahead beyond general plot outline. So, the premise is part of one of the time travel subgenres I particularly enjoy... that is, the 'community' thrust back in time (though it could also be another ...
