Mr Bunny, the Beetle would have been back on the road two months ago with a new gearbox however, upon a request by my dad a full saftey check revealed some worrying finds, despite what you were told the beetle has NEVER been properly restored, you were sold an unsafe vehicle with a dead gearbox, the check revealed that all repairs done to it were not done correctly, the seats have been incorrectly fitted (had you ever been hit they would have torn themselves out and done major damage) the doors have been bent at some point and incorrectly fixed (thats why they wouldn't shut properly) and the floor pans were in such a state the slightest heavy impact would have caused them to drop out, the weld jobs holding them in place were ridiculsouly unsafe and the engine was not correctly fitted. I think you need to get in contact with the woman that sold it to you as I recall she told you that it had been fully restored and this is clearly untrue, I'm not even sure how it had a passing MOT if you ever want to press this I can supply you with an evidence you need as my guy has been documenting everything since I brought it in and told him how you got this car.
So you know, I have continued with the restoration, it's currently in three bits; body chassis and engine. The engine is the only part that doesn't need work. Brand new floor pans have just today been fitted, stripping and re-welding is being done to the chassis, the body is getting a complete strip down and rebuild.
I'm having a few customizations added to it. The heater ducts will be reapaired and refitted, the engine will be properly installed (no inch opening at the top of the engine lid), the front wings are getting top mounted indicators, correct style license plates and a new paint job; white with an offset blue and red stripe
