Title: No Regret 후회하지 않아 Language: Korean Stars: Lee Yeong-hoon and Kim Nam-gil (previously known as Lee Han) Running Time: 114 minutes
"No Regret" is a South Korean film about 18-year-old orphan Su-min (played by Lee Yeong-hoon) who's aware of his homosexual orientation. After turning legal age, he leaves the orphange and moves to Seoul, working various jobs to help pay for university. It is through one of these jobs that he meets Jae-min, a wealthy man who comes from a conservative family who knows their son is gay but is still forcing him to marry a woman. After Jae-min attempts to pick him up, Su-min promptly quits the job to get away from him, but is promptly forced to leave his factory job as well when Jae-Min's company unknowingly takes over it.
Having no where else to go, Su-Min ends up working as a male escort in a gay bar. At first, the boss of the bar was reluctant to hire him, as he knows from experience that openly gay hosts will often leave when they become romantically involved with one of their clients. Su-Min firmly believes it won't happen to him until Jae-Min enters his life for a third time. Although he is already engaged, Jae-Min is willing to give up everything to be with Su-Min, and after a lot of rejection from Su-Min, the two fall into a passionate relationship. However, when the realities of life catch up, they realize love may not always be enough.
Truthfully, I was hooked on this movie in the first 5 minutes despite there not being a lot of dialogue in the beginning (so much so that I thought Su-Min was a mute xDD). I cried when the two of them were having troubles, and I literally screamed towards the end when...certain events happen (which I will not spoil xP). It was also interesting to know that the movie was directed by Korea's first openly gay filmmaker, Lee Song Hee Il.
The only problem I have with the movie is the ending, because I don't get it xD I guess the grabbing action at the end meant that they forgave each other and are together again, but it was just odd for me xD Maybe it connects somehow to the previous grab when they first became a couple? xDD Aish, I dunno.
In any case, I recommend the movie! It has nudity (though only butts are shown! xD) and non-graphic sex and such, but the storyline is great and I love how the characters evolve.
