It's hard to believe it's been so long since my last post. Things have been going pretty well so far this year. My big worry right now is my wife. She is having a lot of issues with her knee (as in pain) and really needs to get it replaced. She is putting it off and I fear it's because we don't have permanent health insurance. It is coming in another month but I don't know if she can make it another month on what she has. We currently have cobra coverage from my last job but I don't think she wants to get into the middle of a knee replacement then have to change insurance carriers. Also it would cause us to have to make two different deductibles this year which can be costly. So she is trying to put it off but she is having so much pain and so much trouble walking that I worry about the long term affects of waiting.

Work has been good. I have lots to do to keep me busy but not anything I don't think I can handle. I am in the middle of my first project which should be completed soon. I have a couple of issues but I'm sure I can get over them.

Yesterday was pretty interesting. Two nights ago I was working on putting some bookshelves together when I had a sudden bout of dizziness. Lots of times when I have my head down for a long time that happens, but it still struck me pretty hard. I had a lot of problems sleeping that night. Every time I woke up, which was often, I was dizzy. When I got up in the morning I couldn't walk I was so dizzy. Every time I moved my head the world started spinning. Needless to say I was plenty scared. I had heard about something called positional vertigo which happens when the fluid in your inner ear crystallizes and the crystals float around your inner ear. There is something called the Keply maneuver which is supposed to help if that is the problem. So I tried it, with the help of my wife, and it seemed to have a great affect on what was happening. I managed to lay down and sleep for a few hours and was back at work by 2pm. It's the first time it has happened to me for no reason that I know of and to have stayed around for so long. I was really glad at 2 when I woke up and things were so much better. Today seems to be much better. I don't have that disoriented feeling I had last night.

The political scene is heating up. Looks like the democratic portion of the race will come down to a black person or a woman. I'm not convinced this country is ready to elect either of them. It's a sad state when you fear the reason a person will be elected is because we can't handle something as non-important as race or gender. We should be overlooking that kind of bull and electing the person we think will do the best job. After all it is not supposed to be a race of who looks the best or who can read the best speech. It should be who we think can lead the country the best. I think our current president has shown that a person who is weak and has no idea what they are doing is not a very good choice. We end up going in the direction of the latest person that has his attention regardless of what we have done in the past or where we were headed. My take is this current president has managed three big things in his eight year reign. He has increased government intervention in our lives, put the country deeper in debt then anyone else, and put us into a war we have no way out of short of the Viet Nam cut and go home method. None of them have been good for the country. I hope most of the voting population can see that and maybe this time elect someone who can do the job, as opposed to casting a vote that is just against someone else. Not a good way to vote. Please wake up America and realize it is not a popularity contest, it is choosing the best presented candidate to lead our country.
