"Name your top 5 favourite games from EACH SYSTEM YOU OWN (or have played if you have played that many for a system you don't own)."
EACH system? EACH? Long post is flooking long!
First platform: Atari 2600. Yes, the old pangolin is indeed old. 1. Pac-Man: Sure, it wasn't the legendary arcade game, but it wasn't Ruined Forever as some might assert. 2. River Raid: In our neighbourhood, this was the milkshake that brought everyone to the basement. 3. Defender: Especially after I figured out how to do a half-cart glitch... yeah, I was crazy with experiments like that. 4. Asteroids: First game I ever score-looped on. 5. 3D Tic Tac Toe. (played on a 4x4x4 grid.) What can I say, it was fun. I'm weird, ok?
Second platform: NES. Legendary. 1. Life Force. "Howl with rage, WHY NOT METROID OR MEGA MAN OR GRAAGAH." Sorry, Life Force was a boss shmup, and I loved playing it. Plus, Konami music totally hangs with the more "familiar" Square, Capcom, and fp Nintendo themes. 2. Metroid. "Samus is a girl" wasn't a major part of this. Metroid is a fun game with lots to explore and soul-sucking jellyfish! And yes, with the current perspective, Samus being a properly armoured armoured female (in an age of skin) is just bonus marks. A close, close second, to be sure. 3. Kid Icarus. Nintendo Hard to the max, and a wild ride. Can't beat the reaper's crazy dance or the hilarity of the Eggplant Wizard. And Pit needs more love. 4. SMB2. Yeah, I like the adaptation of Doki Doki Panic more than the other Mario games. It was brighter and more fun. 5. Zelda 2. Yeah, I said it. I like the second Zelda game. Really, I could name many more NES games that I like, but I'm limiting myself to five. So yeah, these five.
Super Nintendo: 1. Metroid 3. Super Metroid to most fans, this is just an amazing game, and if you haven't played it, then the word I have for you is FAIL. 2. Zelda 3. LTTP is awesome... especially with Link's soul being a pink bunny. 3. Final Fantasy 4 / 6. I waffle between these for the second-place "favourite Final Fantasy" behind the original 3. So they count as one. 4. Secret of Mana. Why not? It and its engine-spinoff Secret of Evermore were rather good games. 5. Lufia. Lolwut? Not Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat? Nah, this is just another game that I like. And again, I left a few off the list, so njaa.
N64: 1. Goldeneye. Really, if you can name five good N64 games, you can have a cookie. Bond's adventure was a crazy one, with or without using the built-in cheats, and actually had a workable split screen 4p mode. 2. Pokemon Snap. Its limited roster of Pokemon expressly INCLUDES SANDSLASH. And a hard to find Sandslash that you have to work to earn, and gave a respectable score for ideal pics. ^.^.^ 3. Super Smash Bros. "Alko... PONTS!" The original is primitive, but still a riot. 4. Pokemon Stadium. 5. Pokemon Stadium 2 / GS. Filler, because, well... it's the N64. I suppose you could put any number of wrestling games with CAW here.
GC:
1. Metroid Prime. (Did you know it's getting a Wii-engine update in August?) It pushes the "Chozon One" thing a bit overmuch, but the fact of exploration in basically an FPS is awesome. And done well. (I make my saving throw vs. yer reactions to the pun.) 2. PSO. My brother and I used to play that together on occasion, when not plowing through RPG's. 3. Skies of Arcadia. Speaking of which... 4. Kirby Air Ride. Drop it like it's hot! 5. Lego Star Wars. No particular reason...
Wii:
1. Metroid Prime 3. HYPER MOOOOOOODE 2. Chocobo's Dungeon. What? Yeah, it's cute. >.> 3. Smash Bros Brawl. Umm, duh? 4. (It drops off for now, as I don't have a lot of good Wii games yet.)
Genesis:
1. Shining Force 2. Old school strat-RPG. Good stuff. 2. Ranger-X. Yeah, it's kinda fun, ok? :D 3. Zero Wing. It's a decent shmup on its own, even if you ignore the famous Engrish meme. 4. Star Control. It's no UQM, but I only had interest in UQM because of the MEMORY of playing this game. And my memory is overly random-access. 5. ...umm... hemm... let's just say Streets of Rage and move on.
Saturn: <333333
1. Dragon Force. Extremely freaking awesome game. 2. Dragon Force 2. Non-American sequel. 3. Mystaria. Some might have this under the name Blazing Heroes, but I have it with the original title. 4. Guardian Heroes. A game chock full of crazy anime things going medieval on each other. 5. Battle Arena Toshinden. One of the old-school 3d fighters.
Dreamcast:
1. Tech Romancer / Choukosenki Kikaioh. MECHA GOOD 2. Guilty Gear X. Yeah, without the XX and stuff, back when Ky could still do the backflip slash kick. 3. Marvel vs. Capcom 2. So many characters to mess with @_@ 4. Soul Calibur. Sure, why not. 5. Umm... hemm... I don't know?
PSX:
1. Wild Arms. Yeah, I said it. Wild Arms. 2. Final Fantasy Tactics. "I guess we must fight. Eaaaaggggghhhhh!!!" And forget the remake. 3. Soul Blade. Or is that Soul Edge? Whatever. Primitive, but awesome music. And music can totally draw me into a game. 4. wipEout XL. Case in point. I actually got into this one because of the music. 5. Final Fantasy 7, though a number of other RPG's make good cases.
PS2:
1. Shadow of the Colossus. "AGRO!" Incredible game. Just incredible. 2. Wild Arms 3 and 4. Yeah, both of 'em are great stuff. 3. Genso Suikoden 5. Just play it. 4. PSU. Not half bad in its own right, though I hear playing with strangers online is a steaming pile of fail due to all the "stop having fun guys" around. 5. God of War. I can't help it. It's a ballet. A ballet of sugarplums and chain sickle delivered Spartan fairy DEATH.
Gameboys: Just gonna lump these into one group. This includes GBA and DS.
1. Pokemon: Collectively, though the old-school blue is still my personal favourite among the series. 2. Tetris: Duh? 3. Dr Mario. ::hums Fever:: 4. Pokemon Pinball 5. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: YOU ARE THE POKEMON! An interesting twist.
