We had this for dinner tonight, and it was a hit. I liked that it had a lot of different components to it than just chicken, soup and rice. Plus, you know how I feel about a crock-pot recipe! (This is from the Southern Living Slow-Cooker Cookbook ) Chicken-and-Wild Rice Hot Dish 4 skinned and boned chicken breasts (about 2 lbs.) 1 cup chopped onion 1 cup chopped celery 5 garlic cloves...
OK. I picked this recipe because of the name. I admit it. It's from the Southern Living Slow-Cooker Cookbook , so you know it will be good! Apple Grunt This old-fashioned fruit dessert is topped with slightly-sweet biscuit dough and then stewed. 5 medium Golden Delicious apples (about 2 pounds), peeled and cut into 1/2 inch wedges 1/2 cup sugar 1/3 cup all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp apple pie...
I've been friends with shanin for a long time and for some reason I didn't realize she owned the great community entitled what_a_crock . I encourage all of you slow cooker users to check out this community. It's one of the greatest inventions ever made and very versatile. There's endless recipes out there for this method of cooking. Just a few simple rules have to be followed for...
Hi everyone! I'd like to make a huge batch of meatballs and freeze them in smaller servings this weekend. My method of cooking meatballs is a quick pan-fry, then slow-cooking in sauce all day. I'm wondering when in this process I should freeze them: A) raw and balled B) pan-fried but not slow cooked or in the sauce or C) cooked, sauce and all? And for those interested, my meatball recipe is: 1lb...
I found this in a crock-pot cooking community I'm part of. - http://community.livejournal.com/what_a_crock " A lot of my crockpot recipes call for broth of some kind. Well, you can buy it of course, but it's not always cheap and seems to be loaded up with salt and stuff. And most of the time I seem to use only part of the can and then end up tossing the rest because I put it in the fridge and then...
When I was younger, my family used to go to a summer camp that was held by my church and its affiliates across the state of Maine, and my mother was one of the two people in charge of the kitchen. While there, somehow or another the now infamous Sticky Teriyaki Chicken was born. The other day I was yearning for it, so I called Mom up for the recipe, and thought I'd give it a chance in my 3 liter slow...
Except it is. Sort of. I recently discovered this LiveJournal community called What_a_Crock. It's an entire community dedicated to crock pot cooking. I know, I know, that isn't really sexy cooking. There's no wood or flame or kiss the cook aprons. No charcoal smeared cheeks or skin and hair that smells like wood smoke at the end of the day. But, ya know? Crock pots are easy, time saving...

http://community.livejournal.com/what_a_crock/522378.html Someone would like your favorite non-alcoholic desert recipes for a St. Pat's party. I believe mine is something like "Remove cloud cover, thereby increasing daytime temperatures while decreasing nighttime temperatures. Remove as much moisture as possible. Add sand, cactus."
