It took not only webcowgirl posting that she had an extra ticket available but also the idle chat of the checker and bagger at the grocery store to make me realize that the latest Harry Potter movie has opened! And I missed the midnight showing at the Majestic Bay! Oh, woe is I, indeed though, to be honest, I'm not sure how I'd have gotten back to West Seattle at 3:00 am. Still, it...
I steal one of movies_michelle 's sort of expressions to say that I did find a lovely Sicilian postcard from webcowgirl in my mailbox when I arrived home this evening and that was very nice. ("Maybe I'll just take that earnest money and go to Italy!") And, before that, a bird with a very pretty song called my attention to some trees near my building so I then noticed the nest and the...
I keep hearing that I've been very quiet on LJ, and I guess that's true... I joined twitter in December (prompted by webcowgirl 's post about ambient awareness), and I tend to open new post tabs, only to conclude that my thought can be distilled down to 140 characters and tweeted instead. A fair amount of this stuff has been told to a fair number of you, but I don't know for sure which of...
1) Refusing ever to leave the UK because the water tastes funny elsewhere (distinct, on various axes, from holidaying in the UK for financial, environmental or other reasons) 2) Travelling overseas, but TALKING ENGLISH IN A VERY LOUD AND CLEAR VOICE, 'cos the locals should speak english and are just being stubborn, damnit. 3) Holidaying strictly in anglophonic (yes I made that up, I think) countries...
Happy Christmas, peoples! Mine's getting off to a bit of a slow start - I got a decent number of hours' sleep last night, although it wasn't of the best quality, but I feel better for it. I was distinctly wiped out yesterday but still had great fun playing Munchkin with booklectic , barking_watcher and adjectivemarcus , in a game which had much the requisite amount of silliness...
I've been awake for all of 7 hours so far today, during which time I've sorted out the paperwork for a bank meeting tomorrow, booked a holiday with webcowgirl , and had a rather nice dinner. And only twittered once, which is unnatural . I *think* that counts as productive...
I'd booked two tickets to see the Wayne MacGregor "Voluntaries / The Lesson / Infra" show at the Royal Opera House tonight but, due to webcowgirl 's illness, we can't use them. It's modern dance / Ballet. That said, it's accessible stuff; I'm no dance buff but MacGregor's one of two choreographers whose work I really enjoy. I have a review of the last piece I saw at http://www.phase.org/j...
Putney High Street (pretty much everything north of the station, as far as I can tell) appears to be off the grid tonight - including street & traffic lights. Tesco was out, but apparently Waitrose / the Exchange appear to have their own generators and a secondary supply, so I managed to do shopping. Power's on in both my and webcowgirl 's flats, so crisis is minimised.
