I haven't posted much since we've moved to Monterey, although I have been reading a lot more LJ than I have in months. So far, we give Monterey two thumbs up. Each. mycranium1 said the other day that he sometimes worries he'll wake up and be back in LA. Things that are awesome: Our House There's a condo for sale in this development, and thus we've learned what the market value is for...
The Break (A. Sexton) It was also my violent heart that broke, falling down the front hall stairs. It was also a message I never spoke, calling, riser after riser, who cares about you, who cares, splintering up the hip that was merely made of crystal, the post of it and also the cup. I exploded in the hallway like a pistol. So I fell apart. So I came all undone. Yes. I was like a...
I go under the knife a week from today. I'm getting so many packages from my list of surgery resources that I feel like it's my birthday! (Well, sort of. If my birthday present were getting my skull sawed open. Um.) Thank you to winterredwood for the Preparing for Surgery CD, which I've been listening to every evening. I'm finding it quite helpful, although I had to laugh when, at one point...
My lovely grandparents are coming for my pre-op appointment on the 30 May, which is awfully nice of them. Before then, I need to have the final maxillofacial modeltaken, which I'll do on 16 May. Oddly though, it won't be ready until 19 May, which happens to be the deadline to turn it in to my surgeon at Kaiser Santa Clara so that she can prepare the splint. So I need to pick it up in Menlo Park before...
I'm used to green tea looking like this . It's never really excited me much, but can be refreshing on a cool winter day along with sushi. But this weekend, I went to a real Japanese tea ceremonyin San Francisco for the Cherry Blossom Festival, and was served real green tea--which looks more like this --by beautiful, mature ladies in springtime kimono, one of whom later performed a delicate...
Moshe Originally uploaded by nullalux . Freyliche Pesach, all! tutordennis took me out to the Wax Museum at Fisherman's Wharf recently. It was awesome. They had an hysterical Jewish exhibit, which included the above maniacal rendition of Moses née Charlton Heston. Nearby was a sign saying, "The restrooms are located just past the Last Supper." Also, the disciples were in the wrong...
Most of the weddinginvitations have gone out (except a few people whose addresses we don't have and people who we will hand the invitations to when we see them). But now we have to wait for RSVPs to trickle in. According to my online RSVP system, the only people coming so far are me, Iris, shaix and my immediate family. It is a fun distraction to check and see who has RSVPed, but it would...
Primarily for shaix but I hope everyone enjoys... recorded this past Monday night right around the corner from me... I may not be totally on board with the MIKA craze, but I will see him the next time he is in town...
...which sounds so much cheerier than "post-mortem". So! The plan was for me to get up at the crack of dawn, so I could be running by 7 or at least 8, thus letting me do at least one of my runs at something close to race conditions. That would've given me the day to myself, after a bit of a nap. But there's an old saying: "No plan ever survives contact with a cute girl who invites you over for...
