The hard part wasn't running 28 or so miles of trails and roads which were more sand than solid ground, more hills than flats, and much more twisty/turny than straight away. The hard part also wasn't getting lost and realizing that every moment you've run in the wrong direction not only makes you more lost, but also costs you lots and lots of time. No, the hard part is organizing 10 people in three...
I started w2 today and it was so hard! Maybe it was too hot or I wasn't properly stretched, but there were moments were I felt like I just couldn't go on during the running portions, so I had to slow down and take a couple steps. I had a mantra going the entire last ten minutes of "Do or do not, there is no try" and I did make it! I felt super accomplished. And super sore. My thighs were really giving...
Originally posted in runners ! It's been one week since I did my 20 miles and a week into my taper. I did a wee 12 mile trot yesterday morning, and my long run next week is a measly 8 miler. I got through this training pretty well. I still have some IT band issues but they foam roll away fairly easily. The last time I trained for a marathon I ended up injuring myself because I got too Hanz...
An interesting article on self-perception post weight loss. I've been doing a lot of self reflection lately. I've lost about 60 scale pounds since my highest weight of 245 (5'6"). In addition, by my body fat estimates etc I think I've added about 10 lbs of muscle as well, putting my total fat loss at around 70 lbs. Which is amazing! Still I've been stuck at this weight since July of last year...
I have a 19month old son. Cute little bugger, and he just LOVES outside. He also has this weird shoe fetish. His shoes, my shoes, my husbands gigantic boat sized shoes, he loves them all. Try to take his shoes off before bath time and you will be convinced you just cut off the poor little guys feet, he's that upset. As I discovered this morning, apparently he feels the same way about my shoes too...
Throughout the winter, I managed to stay pretty consistent in my running schedule, going out for 3-5 miles 3, 4, or 5 times a week. One of the really great motivations I found is right here at the LJ runners' community
There is so much conflicting information out there. My story: Last April 24th I had quadruple fasciotomies on my calf muscles due to chronic exertional compartment syndrome. I was out running after about 4 weeks, and by SeptemberI ran a 5K fun run in 31:38. The biggest problem I had post-surgery was in my achilles region, and lower calf muscles at the back. They would be strung tight as a bow,...
Hope everyone had a decent Easter. I'm still on a sugar high. Weeeeeeeee! I ran a 5K on Saturday and took 3rd place in my age group! I did awesome! Still waiting on my official time to be posted. But I have a shiny medal to keep me occupied for right now. :) Race report: http://community.livejournal.com/runners/3650536.html?#cutid1 To reward myself I ordered myself a new pair of running shoes...
