Watercolor Landscapes from Memory

Barbara's Lookout Again, this time from memory. Watercolor on 90lb watercolor paper. Coelophysis and Plateosaurus Watercolor on 90lb watercolor paper. Those Marie's transparent watercolors are pretty good. I set some out for Sascha this morning to let her paint, then turned over the back of a piece of 90lb student paper that I'd dooodled in watercolor on and just decided to try for Barbara's...

Chipmunk, shelf fungi, horse, sketches...

Shelf Fungi with Chipmunk , 4' x 6" in Sennelier oil pastels with Walnut Hollow oil pencils on rose grey Art Spectrum Colourfix paper is my main demo for Details, the article I just finished for my oil pastels site. Woot! I'm keeping up with the daily site article challenge and my daily art, so I feel really good about it. This has also stimulated me to more sketching. Misdemeanor, 3"...

Sketchbook time!

Hibiscus Buds Pitt Artist Pens on 8 1/2" x 11" wirebound ProArt sketchbook, from life. Sascha got to go riding this morning on Brownie the Welsh Pony with her mom guiding the pony, so she's all happy and excited. She and Karl brought me a stem of big fat red hibiscus buds with dinnerplate size flowers on the bush. He was hoping I'd do some time-lapse sketching if the bud does open in water. Looks...

Sick day

Sick Day :P Pitt Artist Pen, printer paper I really got sick today, wound up spending a long time in bed, naps, then goofed around online and spent a lot of time reading Mariel of Redwall. Noticed the time, didn't feel like even trying for a cat gesture so decided in the grand tradition of certain online cartoonists to try a Stick Man drawing. I think it's fairly evocative of how I felt today...

Mouse

Mouse Derwent Graphitint "Cocoa" color on paper, 4" x 6" (cropped a bit off the bottom). I've been reading the Redwall books again so I did a mouse from memory, gave it the fluffier tail and tip-puff of some wild breeds including desert mice and kangaroo rats. I haven't forgotten how to do a cute rodent.

Cherries (from yesterday)

Cherries Pentel oil pastels on ProArt sketchbook paper, 8 1/2" x 11" from life. I ate all the cherries and forgot to get some photo references first, so now hopefully I can get some more cherries. And remember to get photos before I get greedy and eat them. I love black cherries. They don't last long around me at all! I have yet to draw something today but I got up late, I'm sure I will sometime...

Plein Air and Preliminary Watercolor for Barbara's Lookout

Barbara's Lookout Daniel Smith watercolors Fabriano Artistico 140lb cold press (Not) watercolor paper, 5" x 7" This morning Kitten woke me up at eight thirty. "Want to go to Mount Petit Jean? I have an extra day off." Of course I was delighted. I wanted to sketch it in person and get reference photos using the Zoom function the way I forgot to use it last time.
