"Don't be that guy" is advice I usually get on an annual basis. I appreciate it even less than the familyfavorite 'smile more' At least the family is being concrete and specific. I never could figure out who that guy is, rdxdave has a model . That guy is one who complains a lot. I don't think I do too much of that except to my friends at the poker table. I don't make too much money...
Another lackluster Dr Who episode got me thinking. How could the show be improved? The chief problems are too much action and emotional dribble. Another one, as in the case of the Doctor's Daughter, is that the show often asks us to like a pretty character without providing a reason for us to do so. Sort of a fashion model "I'm beautiful, worship me" attitude usually results in poor science fiction...
What has continued to amaze me over the years is the cognitive dissonance so apparent in the electorate the past eight years. If you run downa list of issues, asking people on which side of that issue their opinions fall, then ask which candidate they are voting for, many will vote directly against their own opinions and interests. Nowhere has this been more obvious than states like West Virginia...

этого что-то в evening/night...
Rdxdave doesn't seem to understandcarbon credits . I get them in theory. The coal and oil power plants both produce 100 tons of pollution. The gov't wants it reduced to 90. The oil guys aren't bothered oo much, it costs them 10,000$ a ton to reduce. The coal guys are, it costs them 100,000 each ton. So the coal guys buy ten credits from the oil plant. The oil company now cuts their production...
I wrote this while simultaneously doing priceline, livejournal, usatoday, csi, yahoo IM, and an online poker game. I have a busy life. Yesterday rdxdave called attention to an editorial from Dinesh D'Souza, who was previously familiar to me for his criticism of Victor Davis Hanson. D's wrote an op-ed in the USAToday Yesterday defending Christianity from those who: We seem to be witnessing...
If 1. There is a shooting on campus. 2. The shooter was not appreheneded. Then 3. Campus should be on high alert. I don't know specifically what that entails but it had better involve a lot of men, dogs, and guns. I have said the above to Gary Carson and rdxdave . Both are educated men and published poker authors; and both think that I am being unreasonably hard on the police and the...
Ok, I understand the internet even less than I did in 1996. Yesterday I posted a critique of my own review on usenet. It isn’t there. 10 minutes ago I typed this entire blog on lj. I had to turn off the pop-up blocker to add a hyperlink and it promptlyreloaded the page and erased me. I evaluated my earlier review and found I was mostly right with a few glaring errors...
