And now we come to the shiny things! * amberite : "I make jewelry which rocks. I make jewelry with rocks (and other shiny objects.) It's mostly bead- and wire-work. Semiprecious and glass with silver, copper, vermeil and base-metal findings, depending on the piece. The average necklace runs around $28-35, the average bracelet or pair of earrings $10-15 - though there's cheaper and more expensive...
FaerieCon was just 2 weeks ago and I feel like it is worlds away. This magnificent faerie festival featured some of my favorite authors and artists, workshops and seminars, music, plus two masquerades: the Good Faeries Ball and the Bad Faeries Ball. I got the amazing opportunity to work with the talented parrish_relics. She designed and created all of the jewelry for my...
Friday was fraught with woe: my husband was in the ER for the morning. He recovered enough for me to be able to go…even though I was worried about leaving him and my son. Saturday I left early in the morning, arriving around 9am. I met up with wildwose Shane and his family (Leah, Jared and Ellawyn) at their booth “Mythical Masks”, where they sell exquisite leather masks, hair cups, horns...

Despite a bit of allergy fuzzy-headedness, I had a wonderful weekend full of good things... * Thursday I jumped ship and went pirate-ing with copperwise at the Franklin Institute. It was all about Real Pirates and frankly, the ~ real ~ story makes the pirate scene even more appealing than some of the romanticized tales. And Mia made a great "first" mate :) * Friday I had my all-time...
A while back, a friend asked me if I might undertake a particular jewelry-making job. When he described it, I knew exactly the right other person to recommend, because her work would be better suited to the task than mine. And I was right -- she was just the right person for the job. See?
(My plan was to operate mostly by instinct, picking whatever artifact I touched or felt like writing about. I was going to save stuff like the Oracle and the box of secrets for late-night, because I wanted to start toying with Kess's self-assurance and sense of objectivity. I was, however, always going to do this one last. Grabbing it out of order now, because this will be the first auction to end...

This is what I've got so far, in terms of items, photos, and descriptions. Numbering is totally arbitrary; I will not be doing these in this order. Just needed a headcount, so to speak. If you have a photo or further description of your item, please comment here with it! Please be patient with memory-fractured 'song - I may have your description 'round heresomewhere, but if you have it close to hand...
Go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art of course! I worked there YEARS ago, and actually caught site of an old boyfriend on the way out. A blast from the past! But before that we saw three great shows. The Costume Institute is holding an exhibit called "Superheroes". For all you comic fans out there and if you're in the city - do go! It's an exhibit of fashion inspired by Superheroes. So lots...
