Gen Con's Done

I'm not in Indianapolis (still!), but now that Gen Con's over I guess it really doesn't matter as much. (Though there will be at least a couple of "dead dog parties" that I WISH I could be attending.) As much as I was enjoying the quick snippets from the show (in particular, Eric 's rapid-fire photo blog), I REALLY can't wait to read some more in-depth posts. Y'know, the best events, the best new...

Well, I am here in Indianapolis and am having a wonderful time.  I met  mysticalforest  and his wife at Ed Greenwoods signing.  Had lunch with Ed and tagthewhale  and Eytan, Brian James and his wife and Erik Scott de Bie.  I will post more as the con goes on. Till Later, Jeff

Movie Week Wrap-Up

A lot of folks use their Live Journal to tackle lengthy movie reviews. I might do that too, but I'm not about to start right now. Esspecially after the batch of the mundane I've taken in over the past week: The X-Files, The Mummy III, Dark Knight, and Midnight Meat Train. No, no, no, I did not just call Dark Knight mundane, but in the company of the other three, it all kind of balances out...

#24: The Midnight Meat Train

Clive Barker's one of my favorite authors. I was introduced to him by my grandma (her words: "This guy is better than Stephen King!" She was right.). She handed me a few of his "Books of Blood" and one of the first stories I read was a charming tale called "The Midnight Meat Train." Which is not the kind of title you can easily forget. In any case, it ended up being one of my favorite of his short...

Bellevue Farmer's Market

I had been quite disappointed with the local farmer's market in downtown Kirkland. It's one of those too crowded with crafts, flowers, and $10 spelt bread loaves. Not enough fruits and veggies that would get me interested in going. So, I finally decided to check out the Bellevue Farmer's Market and I'm glad I did. A wonderful selection of all organics. Not only loads of berries but also berry wine...

Parties and Picnics

Party Attended a wonderful birthday party for mysticalforest and ms_monkey with a bunch of LJers. Happy Birthday again to both of you! Mystical was kind enough to already to the write up . Lots of good company especially from Paizo land, though I didn't get to spend as much time talking to everyone since I was the point person for the wee one that night. Especially good discussions...

Party!

sefue and I had a great time last night, at ms_monkey 's and mysticalforest 's birthday party. Lots of people were there, too many to mention here, and we had a lot of fun. It's always a treat to socialize with my friends, especially when we're together for a party, not for a game of some sort. Kind of makes me regret the years I was with Erin (yet another reason, I mean) since...

A most excellent chick tract

Well, maybe not a Chick Tract, but in the same spirit and much, much more useful. Via mysticalforest in this entry .

Business Card- Redux

Ok, I have touched up the previous design, thanks to the input of mysticalforest  , and have designed a less busy one.  Let me know which one you like.  Now, in the entertainment field, more is usually good, however I have spoken to a few in that field who don't agree so I am utterly confused.  I have decided to get as many opinions as I can and then decide. Design one: Design two: ...

4E Impressions

Barb and I started playing our first 4th edition D&D game run by mysticalforest Monday night. The session was dedicated to making characters, and learning the new rules. I made a halfling rogue, Barb a dragonborn paladin. 4E is supposed to make things easier, but making a 1st level character took me nearly 3 hours. And that was with a roomful of helpful, bright gamers, one of which had already...
