I honestly don't know what I'd do at times without la_azteca 's help. She and her incredibly lucky husband mnelson (and trust me, she's as lucky to have him as he is to have her) have an incredible habit of finding the little things that make living in Dallas worthwhile. Better yet, they end up reminding me of these things at just the right time, so that the Czarina and I don't miss...

Since many of the dealers at today's event are booksellers, the kind folks running the dealer's room opened up the floor on Thursday evening. I still have a lot to do (dragging carnivores and dragonfruit cactus to the space, getting ID cards printed up, and picking up my new banner, among others), but the Czarina and I were at least able to drag out Kareds, set up the table, and get shelves in place...

I awoke later today than I'd like, which means my morning errands and trip will be afternoon ones. I've got the eggshell fragments-remnants of a sinus headache to tread softly around, and I need to dress up somewhat for a potentially important meeting. This is tempting fate, since the skies still look gray and threatening. I don't think I'll get as badly drenched as Friday, but I'm not going to risk...

Well, the Czarina, mnelson , la_azteca , and I survived this year's ZestFest, and we're still going through all of the samples, bottles, and promotional material. I still need time to finish sifting through what we found and what we saw, but Angela and I ended up on a very serious discussion on the equivalent of a Maker Faire for foodies, and it's sounding more and more intriguing all...

Sunday. The Czarina, mnelson , la_azteca , and myself out at ZestFest 2008 at the Will Rogers Center in Fort Worth. The biggest collection of spicy foods on one continent. Naturally, I'll be out there looking for seeds for next year's displays of gastrointestinal immolation. Anyone else interested in exploring the outer reaches of food experience?

Right, I haven't posted since Saturday. I've been busy. It's SDCC week, and even though I'm not going, it's crunch time on my end for a few things anyway. Looks like I will be doing something for a website that I want to do. I discovered rather abruptly that consistently blogging and staying focused on that really isn't for me, especially since I have to log in and do it myself etc. Not that I'm complaining...
