Whud.

Very tired this morning. The weekend was spent almost entirely in Montreal for Draconis . The flights to and from were both problematic. Because one of their reps misinformed me, I got to wait for my WestJet flight for four hours instead of getting on an earlier one. Draconis was an enjoyable show. Saw jkahane , spross and thothmeister running and playing some games, and...

Sakhut of Ridge River, Desolation Character

One of the things I've been known to occasionally do is post up characters that I've created for rpgs that I really enjoy. One such game system is Desolation , a post-apocalyptic fantasy rpg from the folks at Greymalkin Designs. Last Friday night, a friend of mine treated me for my birthday by starting a game of Desolation , and I am getting to play in it this evening again. I have posted the...

Gaming Conventions, How Often?

Something that I've been contemplating of late is gaming conventions. Sure, there are the big ones like GenCon Indy and Origins, but there are all these other, smaller gaming conventions out there as well. Add to that the fact that exposure and promotion at gaming conventions seems to be a means by which game companies believe that their games will sell more, and that raises the question that comes...

Weekend done.

So, yeah. Weekend was spent on the road, mostly. This past weekend was CanGames, which is at this point the oldest gaming con in Canada. I drove up to Ottawa on Friday. I left later than I'd planned because I was arguing for a while with UPS about getting Cynra's replacement phone delivered. Some of the quirks of the delivery: They could not deliver it to my work location in Mississauga. They could...

The opposite of urban sprawl?

From jkahane comes this link to an article about an interesting idea - "decivilization". Simply put, it's the opposite of urban sprawl. The example given is the city of Flint, Michigan, which in the last 20 or 30 years has been ravaged by the bad times of the auto sector, but not rewarded by the boom times. They're talking about "consolidating" the city into a smaller area, and demolishing...

Poll: Favourite Pulp Adventure RPG

I am a fan of Pulp Adventure serials and of course, Pulp Adventure roleplaying games. Since the 1930s Pulp adventure genre is so popular in the gaming industry and among players these days, I have set up a poll on my LJ blog to see what folks' favourite Pulp adventure rpgs are. Please go to the poll, linked below, and participate in this poll. Comments and thoughts on the genre are welcome, too.....

Preferred RPG Poll

A couple of folks commented that the two genres given for the RPG poll were too generic, and not defined enough. So I have revised the poll, and reposted it with two specific rpgs in mind. The blog entry for the poll is http://jkahane.livejournal.com/242942.html I hope that folks will go over there and post about the two games in question. Thanks. :)
