I've been reading The Happiness Hypothesis , by Jonathan Haidt. A lot of it consolidates stuff I already knew, thanks to inhumandecency . But a few tidbits are new. Of course, I'm familiar with the usual suspects list of things that don't increase happiness in the long run - wealth, beauty, fame, youth, etc. - and the usual suspect list of things that do - friendships, leisure, meditation...
