homemade leg wax

My body waxer uses this fantastically unique wax that is sugar based. The thing that makes it unique is that it does not require the use of removal strips. It is a very thick, almost gooey texture that my waxer uses her hands to apply and remove. It doesn't harden, it just lathes on and is pulled off. This stuff works better on me than any wax I have tried before. I was talking to my waxer about...

the waspinator

i have various wasps in my yard - the normal yellow jacket, these lovely big red wasps and mud-dabbers. i dont want to out right kill or trap them them because i read they control the webworm population and i dont want to use chemicals that might kill bees or other beneficial bugs. ive seen the waspinator  and wondered if anyone has used it and if it worked.  thanks x-posted to hip_domestics...

New mom/small children question

(xposted to hip_domestics ) My neighbor is going to give birth to kid #3 any day now, and kids #1 and 2 will surely be underfoot all the time. (Two boys, ages almost-3 and 18 months-ish. I think the latter is a late walker but otherwise fine.) If my boyfriend and I were to offer to get them out of their parents' hair for a full afternoon on several Saturdays or similar, what could we do? ...

im posting this here because of plant watering concerns. my mother got a big blow up pool last year at the end of the season for 3 dollars.  score!!  well the sucker takes almost 300 gallons of water and the prospect of emptying and refilling that almost every day... im gobsmacked.  so im looking for something that can treat the water - ive got one kid still in diapers - i also dont want it to become...

OMG Shoes? Really?

I just read this really long post , and it got me wondering: How many of you wear shoes around the house? If you can't read the linked post, the OP basically has a mini-freakout regarding shoes because she and her significant other are used to wearing them at home, but are now trying not to because they want to keep the place cleaner. I grew up taking my shoes off before entering the house. It's...

Non-sugar sweeteners in jam?

I'm looking for information/recommendations on non-sugar sweeteners in a strawberry jam. I'm using Pomona Pectin (which was recommended to me last year by someone in this community) so I can reduce the sugar in my jams. I'm diabetic, as are a lot of my friends and co-workers. I'm not asking so much HOW to alter the recipe, I'm looking for personal recommendations on what type of sweetener to substitute...

"So... one time, we were moving a wall in one of the apartment buildings I own and we found a FETUS SKELETON in the wall. How freaky is that? But it's ok, we shoveled it into a bag and buried it out back. Alert the authorities? Nah, it's not like I have any liability in the matter."

The value of my flat Mexican beer, is so much to me I need to ask the exact same question over , and over , and over . I get the same advice in each but perhaps if I ask in a new community they will give me magic flat beer advice, but I must be careful not to change the wording at all.
