I thought I'd take the opportunity to point any Glasgow SF fans on here in the direction of http://glasgowsf.ning.com/ It's a new website set up to be a hub for all of Glasgow's SF groups and events, acting as a central point of information. There are existing groups such as LJ's glasgow_fen , the Resurgence of Trout group on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=31293971021 ...
This is likely to be the last post I make before I head off to Eastercon in Bradford tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it as I haven't been away anywhere since being a Viking at Largs for a week last September. It will be good to catch up with people I haven't seen since last Easter as well as people I have only communicated with on the net since then. I was at my parents in Saltcoats today. I had...
I had a quiet weekend, mainly due to the fact that I am gearing up for Eastercon which starts this Friday. I am looking forward to it, especially with some of the programme items recently announced on the website at http://lx2009.com/ . After all, how many cons can claim to have an orchestral concert by the National Festival Orchestra? I went to the cinema on Saturday to see "Traitor", which turned...
Last night I posted a message in glasgow_fen as well as on the Trout group on Facebook. This is what I said: “April is almost upon us so I thought I would take this opportunity to remind everyone that Trout will be taking place on the second Thursday of the month which is Thursday April 9th. It will be in the Cask & Still as usual from 7.00pm onwards. Eastercon begins the next day so some...
My posting access to glasgow_fen has been removed. Now, I could be equally as petty and remove tanngrisnir from the Trout Facebook group but I do not have previous form in attempting to silence dissent in this way. I don't have time to discuss this further as I am going out. I have a life. Apologiesto everyone not involved in this nonsense.
(Crossposted from glasgow_fen ) Before I get wrapped up in fun stuff (or snowed in, which is also possible in these southerly parts) I wanted to remindeveryone that February's Trout is next Thursday, 12th February, from 7pm-ish in The Cask and Still, Hope Street . If you haven't been there before, we meet in the area at the back of the pub. All SF/Fantasy fans welcome. Some sad news for...
As mentioned in Ansible, http://news.ansible.co.uk/a257.html , the GenderAnalyser claims to be able to tell if a blog is written by a male or a female. http://www.genderanalyzer.com/?url= My results says "We have strong indicators that http://rhionnach.livejournal.com/ is written by a woman (94%)." Well, that's good to know, I suppose, but how do they work it out? Out if curiousity I put in...

I meant to post this when I came in from work yesterday but I faffed about, ate, and then went out to glasgow_fen . I went into the breakout area on my teabreak yesterday afternoon to find the plasma screen stuck on the Bob the Builder karaoke channel. It was blaring out because no one could find the remote control! Quite bizarre, but does make a difference from the perpetual Sky sports channel...
I created the glasgow_pagans LJ community some time ago but for a variety of reasons it's languished in the doldrums. So I've decided to try to revive it and will be using it in the same way as glasgow_fen posting info on the next meeting coming up, whichever moot that happens to be. I want to keep people posted about moots and other events. I think publicity is very important to...
