Several years ago, there was a post in either this community, or in food_porn about homemade vanilla extract. Some people favored rum over vodka, or vice versa. However, all of the recipes I have found use vodka, one bean - or three. For those of you that do make your own extract, which alcohol do you prefer? How many vanilla beans? Do you prefer to slice the bean in half, or cut into thirds...
