Ugh fennel

I have been drinking ginger tea daily for nausea related to fibromyalgia, and I'm looking for a natural solution to the gas/bloating/flatulence of IBS as well. It seems that fennel tea should help a great deal, only I can't stand that strong taste of licorice. Anyone have a good recipe/tea mix that can provide a nice counterbalance to that licorice flavor? xposted to naturalliving and ...

creative & easy to cross-reference "lifestyle" journal

I want to apologize in advance for the poor grammar and rambling nature of this post. Lately, I've been trying to keep a food journal, and I've decided that in addition, I would like to keep a sleep, pain, activity, and psychological/emotional journal. I would like to do this for myself in order to get a more accurate and general idea concerning all of these things. And also feel it would be a...

Prozac and Elavil

Hi there -- I'm Heather, 32, and dealing with chronic pain from Fibromyalgia, TMJ and migraines. (I also have PCOS, GERD, IBS and an autoimmune disease called Sjogren's Syndrome. Woo-freaking-hoo.) Anyway, I'm currently on Effexor for depression/anxiety, and Lyrica for pain -- but the Lyrica hasn't worked whatsoever, so my PCP is sticking me on a combination of Prozac and Elavil (a.k.a. amatriptyline...

Essay on Pain

On Pain - a member of fibromyalgia just shared an incredibly beautiful post about living with chronic pain. I link because I want people who care about me to read it.

A friend of mine with M.E. met the other day and we were talking about coffee intake. She then said something about "coffee affecting deep sleep".... which made me think, and say to her "ah, that is *why* coffee doesn´t affect my sleep at all, because people with fibro don´t get deep sleep in the first place!". Would love to hear your thoughts on this theory.... :) P.S.: I have experimented with...

Hey sasha_feather , I was looking at this for me today after somebody in the fibromyalgia community suggested it, and I came across this nifty set that's supposed to be really good for treating migraines. It's designed to be used in hot & cold therapy. Not sure if you've ever tried anything like this, but I thought of you when I saw it so I figured I'd point it out. Yay internet...

WTF?! O_O

I was made aware of this horrible incident by the fibromyalgia community and I just had to share it. Click the link for the whole story. Then on November 29 of last year, a few weeks ago, he suffered chest pains. Wanting to live and knowing what to do, he called emergency services. The operator stayed on the phone with him as he waited for the ambulance to arrive. He collapsed and the...

This was just posted on fibromyalgia , and it made me ache, and it made me scared. http://davehingsburger.blogspot.com/2009/01/requiem.html A note of fear creeps into my life. What would ambulance attendants see if they came for me. A fat, disabled guy, in an apartment full of wheelchairs, long reachers, and grab bars. What value would my life seem if it was just my body they saw - not my...

The Beginning

So today is the first day I'm posting to my fibro blog. I honestly don't know who is going to read it, or if I'm going to be the only one who does! Just in case you are not me, I'll post a really quick summary of me. Jen: 19 years old, female, college student near Chicago, Elementary Ed major, Music minor, works part time for the college's alumni office, has fibromyalgia (FMS, or I call it fibro)...
