It turns out that from Boston, there are only four trains to Plymouth each day. They're at awkward times: crack of dawn, rush hour, early afternoon, and evening. If you miss one, you're pretty much stuck for a couple of hours while you wait the next train. Since my brother and I wanted to take full advantage of our day in Plymouth, we left the house around 7 am and managed to catch the crack of...
...it occurred to me that the generous uptick in cursing I have experienced in the past week may be due to the fact that I'm listening to Coyote Blue by Christopher Moore as I drive. >_
25 Things You Might Not Know About Me 1. I stopped aging in 2007. 23 is a nice round number. I'm never getting any older. Every May 22nd is my 23rd birthday. 2. I am rather ashamed of my Internet addiction and I am trying to break it this year. Too much of the past decade was wasted on the computer, when I stop and think about it. 3. My current education plan is a double major in art history and...
From fashion_piranha : What books did you get for Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Yule/(Insert Forgotten Holiday here)? Thomas Cahill's How the Irish Saved Civilization , which I highly recommend. Couple Mercedes Lackey books, already own them, trading them in. Mercedes Lackey's Fiddler Fair , which I did not already own (well, it's on Baen Free Library, but that doesn't count) and also...
Well, one nice thing about the winter break is I'm going to have a chance to catch up on my book reviews. I had about twenty books lying around that were read but not yet written up. On the other hand, updating daily blows. I love reading books, but writing about them isn't always so great. When I like something about a book, I have to be able to explain why, and translating my vague impressions...
I'm at work right now, getting time and a half for playing on the internet. Sometimes my job is awesome. Recently all these Coraline boxes have been showing up on the interweb ( http://fashion-piranha.livejournal.com/40454 and, my favorite: Reasons I love them: a is for awesome, which is what they are b is for blogs, which is what they have me finding new ones of. Some quite lovely and new and...
I intended to be a lazy bastard today, but... that ended up not happening. So I'm still tired, and I'm only going to give you the choicest linkspam because, again: tired. And also, my inbox is on fire. (But it's a good tired. I've still got more work to do, but I cannot tell you how mellow I feel now that I've got " Twilight in Fifteen Minutes "--something I've known I would be writing for six months...
Today I received a rather mysterious box. It is old, wooden and worn. This is a treasure chest from the good folks at Laika, the creators of the film Coraline. Based on the novella by Neil Gaiman, Coraline is an animated stop-motion delight hitting theatres in February 2009. Put that on your calenders now, because it's going to be good! ( Time to open up the box! )

And that's official - many thanks to fashion_piranha who has just reviewed The Opposite of Life on her journal. I could wax squeeful for a while on how well I think she's pinned down the elements of the book, but maybe you should just read the review . Overseas readers... with the Aussie dollar on the slide, this might be a good time to buy it from Australia. Links are at the end of the...
