A meme from kjpepper kjpepper and justkimu justkimu . They gave me five words that they associate with me and asked me to talk about them. hair: I always used to wear my hair fairly long even as a kid , but I last had my hair properly cut in January 2000. I like the feel of my hair; it's one of the things I actually rather like about my body. But perhaps if I ever start going...
So, the primary bitching is, I had this really cool and entertaining post all typed out on my newly-inherited desktop pc and transferred to floppy because Penelope's (the pc's name) D: drive is kind of ...unstable... and niether of the two computers at Flora's have an A: drive. WTF is up with that? Have floppy disks become so obsolete? Are they the way of the 8-track already? Stupid damned not being...
What is this THING on my gardenia 'tree'? I've never seen anything like it. A caterpillar with diagonal, leaf-mimicking striations? And a fuzzy tail !? A caterpillar with a tail!? What IS this thing? What will it turn into? A Geigeresque behemoth butterfly with the wingspan of a paperback book? I noticed some wispy pieces of silk blowing around him. I'm hopin' he's fissin' to pupate where he...
We had at least 50 people come to the NWSFS Picnic yesterday! We couldn't have asked for lovelier weather and we had so much food - thank heavens someone brought an extra table and we still ran out of room for all of the goodies. Lots of good food and lively conversation make for a great picnic, IMHO. Elections do not close until the 20th so if you didn't make it or haven't mailed your ballot in...
I cannotimagine that anyone on my friendlist does not already have a subscription to greygirlbeast 's Sirenia Digest , but should this be the strange case, you might want to consider picking one up: this month's issue will contain her story "Fish Bride" (with illustration by Vince Locke, which I am dying to see), the detailed synopsis for a never-written X-Files novel by her and ...
I won't say I'm back in it, but I did have a moment of peaceful revelation yestiddy afternoon. One of my erstwhile Dick-Van-Dyke'y professional incarnations, after accountant, sidewalk artist, tech guru and chimney sweep, was that of Merry Bartender. It was a great way to start out my 30s, and a lovely mode to come home to New Orleans after a two year "oh-my-god-the-vortex-is-gonna-suck-me-down!"...
Doing lots of last-minute stuff before BookExpo America, and am expecting to be offline for much of the week. Therefore, bits and pieces in bullet form for you to digest easily, my Gentle Readers. * Lots and lots of updates to blogdracula ... since I don't know what access to the Internet will be available to me, I have posted all entries between 24 May and 31 May. They'll be "future-dated"...
There are certain books that I turn to when I'm depressed. Like docbrite Stephen King is usually a solid bet. I started rereading The Silence of the Lambs for a change. I read it for my AP english class senior year--funny story, I was actually supposed to be in honors english but only two people signed up so me and the other overachieving underachiever got pushed into AP for free. We didn't...
