The Prospective Corset- Diana and Venus

Remember this? http://community.livejournal.com/corsetmakers/1616087.html I began it-- Click for supersized view So, I'm thinking, instead of having a whole new sample to lay around my house, I'm proposing placing this image on an underbust, closed-front silk corset for $450 or best offer. Made to your measurements, in your color choice [embroidered/ginghams/pintucks and stripes...

Prospective Project, Question on Style

Hey people, I have a question. I have every desire to make a closed front underbust decorated with a very Victorian decoupage kind of effect. If you look at the examples in the images here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=160346962760 and here http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=17606827 this is the kind of look I'm going for with the...

Groups that can help with outfits.

These are groups I like. They have some really great content on fashion and history, and they have photos that you can take as inspiration for your outfits or just to look at as eye candy. http://community.livejournal.com/bbccostumedrama/profile http://community.livejournal.com/dressdiaries/profile http://community.livejournal.com/corsetmakers/profile http://community.livejournal.com/corsetry/...

Bridal corsets!

Has anyone else done bridal corsets? This one incorporates the "something blue" which I think is so sweet. And the bride was such an absolute dear to work with - I hope she loves it! Back view: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y20/lizcostumes/etsy3.jpg There is a photojournal of my process on the corsetmakers community here: http://community.livejournal.com/corsetmakers/1600276.html This...

Put this number 11430 into the search field here and you should get a purple boned bodice with flaps over the bust much like this one I talked about on corsetmakers   a while ago.

Retro Nursing Corset Dress.

The deadline June 20th Wedding The reason I want a new dress! At the time of the engagement 1 year ago, a loose retro theme was floating around. Now it appears that is not happening, but I want to anyways. Complications: the 1 year old is still nursing. So I found Simplicity 3780 , now Out of Print! (still available on line) hmm, halters can be unhooked at the neck and that could work for nursing...

Which boning?

I am looking at making up the pregnancy stays from Jill Salen's book. I want to pattern them now before pregnancy. I want to see how they fit a pregnant shape. With my last pregnancy I found my cable tie boned pair of stays, with front and back lacing, most comfortable. Before anyone goes crazy on me, I have no intention of tighlacing while pregnant, that is not the point. I would be waering the stays...

Simplicity 2621, a quick look

Simplicity just released this month a few new costume patterns. I believe we have the Tudors show to thank for 2621 Women's 16th century undergarments, and 2589 Women's Tudor dress. Now let's for a moment looks over the fact that It is debatable if "Pair of Bodies" or Farthingales were worn under dresses during Henry the 8th's time for a moment and take a look at the undergarments pattern. The...
