We saw Up on Friday, at long last. Coming off something like Wall-E , which was about BIG things, Up took me a bit off guard with its lighthearted adventure story. It wasn't really about anything in particular, just a little romp through South America in search of a beautiful landscape. callmesteam said he was surprised by how villainous the villain was in it. Sure, he talked about killing...
LOTR is about 95% complete. The only thing left is that one of the flasher lamps is stuck on, which probably means I need to replace a transistor. Last night I fixed a bunch of switches, and replaced a TON of lamps, many in very-hard-to-reach places. And the night before last, right after I got it, I resoldered a broken switch. Oh, and also last night I added a fourth ball to it; somehow this machine...
here ! and here ! callmesteam is clearly more photogenic, since there are actually pictures of the FRONT of his head here and here , and in this one you can even see his lovely wife. I think I need to improve my posture.
I spent this weekend with callmesteam and his wife at the Rocky Mountain Pinball Showdown . callmesteam counted 97 playable machines, and I played all but three of them. It was a delightfully large quantity of pinball. I think I probably played Jolly Park the most, number-of-games-wise, but not by much. I really wanted to like the game because it was so unusual, but in the end...
Demigod wants to suck away all my time. When I'm not playing Lord of the Rings Online with friends, I'm finding myself constantly drawn to it. Even though I'm mostly only playing it by myself against the computer, I can't stop. It has that special quality: addictiveness. I haven't played a character I don't love, though I've only played with three so far. By far, my favorite is the Torchbearer. He's...
moderately good news: My Neo-Geo is now setup at the Press Club! very bad news: After carefully navigating across the Press Club parking lot, down a winding path, up and down some stairs, and through a narrow doorway, all with the assistance of callmesteam , I turned on the machine and it immediately blew a capacitor on the monitor board. So, there's no video. Is anyone up for joining me...
So, I got all of your comments but I can't reply to them, in reference to my last post about 80s music. I'll reply to them tonight but especially in reference to callmesteam , no, it's not because of the cheesy video (though that doesn't help). I just don't care for "the sound" of 80s music. Another example is "Mad World." I cannot stand the obnoxious original by Tears for Fears but I do like...
