I have a couple fall scarves to make, and can gladly make more once I get on a roll... Long story short, a couple weeks ago my baby cat (who is actually 2 1/2) ended up in the animal hospital for a weekend and could have died from a urinary blockage. Now he's home, but we're struggling to take care of the bills from the animal hospital. What does this mean to you? Consider me at your service. Of course not my body, that would be illegal. But there are a multitude of things I can do for money under the cut. If you find some way that we could help each other out, I'd be eternally grateful.

For anyone who isn't already aware, Jason and I are going to have a rough time of it trying to get pregnant. Two and a half years ago, we lucked into a kitten. He was the cutest thing I had ever seen. We named him Six, after Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies, and because my best friend had a cat named Seven. Six was my constant companion. He slept on my chest, he head butted me in the face to get my attention... Everywhere Mommy went in the house, Six went, too. He was scared to death of water, but would perch himself on the edge of the tub when I took a bath just to be close. I love him like my baby because, honestly, he might be the closest thing to a baby I get to have. I love the kids, but they were far from babies when I met them. I have nieces and now baby Anthony, but still. Six is MY baby.

Two and a half years later, he is still my baby. He's 15 pounds (aka humongous) and he has a gut but he's just big in general. He's tall, his paws are huge... he's just a big boy. And that doesn't stop him from still cuddling with me like he did when he was a baby. He climbs up on my chest or my stomach, not realizing how heavy 15 pounds can be on my sternum. He's playful and runs around like a kitten. Everything he can find is a potential toy.

Last night he started acting weird. I picked him up (he gets carried more than he walks, spoiled brat...) and he started crying. Jason petted him and he winced and cried when you got close to his butt. He would only eat if I gave him one piece of food at a time. And he was cranky with everyone. This was NOT my baby cat. We eventually narrowed it down to his belly back under his butt that hurt. We put him in our room and made a makeshift litter box for him. I was panicking but Jason kept a cool head and just kept monitoring him. After a few attempts at the litter box that produced nothing, I finally convinced Jason to call the After Hours number for the vet. They said to bring him in right away. They told him it would be $105 just to see him.

He called me a little after midnight. Six had a blockage in his urinary tract. This was exactly what I was afraid of. The vet said we were lucky we caught it so early. His bladder was full, but not damaged. They were able to catheter him and remove the blockage. They put him on IV antibiotics and told Jason it would be at least 46-48 hours. They also gave him an estimate of anywhere from $1100 to $1360 and said that it would have to be paid in order to bring him home.

At this point I've talked to them twice today. I gave them a deposit, and their business office agreed to monthly payments of $200 until the balance is paid. His urine is clear through the catheter, but he's refusing to eat and he is "touchy and tempermental" according to the vet. All I want is for my baby to get better and be able to come home, which might happen as early as before 7:30 on Monday morning. But once he gets home, we're talking a new diet, and quite a few follow up visits on top of the $1000+ bill that we will already have. I have no idea how we are going to manage.

I've never been the girl that could stick a donations button up and just ask for money. No matter how bad it gets, it just wouldn't feel right for me. But I'm more than happy to do something for anyone that can help us out.

Here's the problem -- I have no real marketable skills for once off work. I can't write you into a story or autograph something for you. I can't write you a song or paint you a picture. I can't fix your plumbing or install flooring in your house. I can't change your oil in your car. I am good at math. I can balance your checkbook or create a monthly budget in Excel that you could easily follow. I can proofread writings. I can do limited graphics work. I can program HTML. Hell, I can program the HECK out of a Medidata Rave database if anyone has any need for that... I can crochet one stitch in any square or rectangle shape you want. Small blanket? Scarf? You got it! I think I'm really good at planning events. If you need a themed party put together, favors, even help finding a gift for someone, just give me some guidelines and off I'll go. Same with web searches. Need to find someone? Need information on a topic? I'll dig as many holes as deep as needed till I find it. Just this past week I had only a vague job description for a person with a house my sister was looking at 100 miles away, no name or anything, and within 5 minutes I had a google map image of the house for her. I'll do interior painting, which I know a lot of people hate to do. I'll design a room for you.

Anything I can help you with, I'll go above and beyond to do. Spread the word, if you know of anyone that needs help. I just wish I had something that was really ME that could help.

Robot Six (and the rest of the family) Thanks You

And once again, a HUGE thank you to those of you who have donated and/or purchased goods and/or services already. I'm humbled and overwhelmed.
