I was truly blessed this morning to have attended church at my new haunt on "Feed My Lambs" day. It was the children's turn to worship, and they did such a good job! I mean, it helps that they were all the most adorable things. Kudos to the adult leaders; there were about thirty kids that needed to be wrangled over the course of the service, and they had them singing, dancing, signing, acting and speaking for a good hour! One little girl in particular was so very much into her performance, signing away with the cutest expression on her face and singing along with all the lyrics. She can't have been more than four years old! It was really sweet, and seemed very much like a confirmation that, should the offer to lead the position of children's choir director at this other church be *officially* given, I'm going to take it.
Can't say it's been a hugely productive weekend (what weekend is?), but it's certainly been fun. Tonks and I had a blast terrorizing campus Saturday afternoon in honor of the-project-that-shall-remain-unnamed, and I spent the evening down at the track at a walkathon to raise money for the child-soldiers of Uganda. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Invisible Children campaign, give it a look at http://www.invisiblechildren.com. A group of Pericleans were out for the event, and we made quite a scene, decked out in our green "Are You Ghana Make a Difference" shirts, kente necklaces and faces painted in the colors of the Ghanaian flag. I was quite proud of the black Funtunfundenkyenfunefu adinkra that one of the gals painted on my forearm. Woot! Good times and a good cause. Who could ask for better?
But now it's Sunday afternoon and I have to make like Sisyphus and start again pushing against the impossible rock that is Reality. Pity the Gelft! Pity the-- oh. Wrong allusion.
Onward to studying! Onward to power-tools! Onward to tedious readings and a week of evening appointments! |
