spacemanlove and I bought a truck!
It makes sense, given out carriage needs for the near future. A two-vehicle household is a luxury, but a very convenient one for our new location. (It's telling that there's a two-car garage and turnaround driveway.) Also, her art is often made for humans to fit inside, and thus the pieces (and their component materials) are BIG. At the end of this school year, we'll need to move it all to storage, to future shows, and so on. And naturally, it'll be a boon for the impending move.
We found a '99 Tacoma on Craigslist, high-mileage but well-loved. It was a "sell for grad school money" deal at a very fair price. The original owner (we are the third) tricked it out with accessories, both practical (toolbox, spay-in bedliner, bed extender) and toys-for-boys stuff (racing pedals, schmancy stereo, etc.) We are learning the truck's quirks, but most problems are explained by a decade of use and six months fallow. It needs a tune-up--no big whoop.
Of course, now what I really want to do is crank up the subwoofer, turn on some Neil Diamond, and ride Real Slow down my block. You know, returning the favor for all the joy their music has brought me.
