Given how much time I spend going "OMG CHECK OUT THIS FIC" to [info]timmesque and [info]inarticulate, it seemed like maybe I should just do a post of recs for Supernatural fic that I like. Mostly so that I'll always have the links, but also because I know you guys care very deeply about my opinions.

Long story short, just check out these comms: [info]spn_j2_bigbang, [info]spn_harlequin, [info]abouttwoboys. Cuz half these recs are from there anyway.

Supernatural
Back Country Roadmap by [info]astolat; Dean/Sam, mature. No angst, vague S3 spoilers, but nothing major.
"Well, they told me every thirteen-year-old girl wanted one," Dean said, before he remembered he was trying to get in Sam's pants now.
This entire fic basically focuses on Dean trying to get Sam in bed, and it's completely hilarious. One of my favorite Dean/Sam fics ever. Which is why it's first. Clearly.

Treat Her Like a Lady by [info]causeways; Dean/Sam, mature. No angst, no spoilers.
"The curse thinks you're a woman. When I'm ninety years old and in the rest home and I'm laughing my ass off for what seems like no reason, just know that this will still be what I'm laughing about."
Dean gets cursed into dating Sam. Also hilarious. Like, a lot.

You Take It With You by [info]lazy_daze; Dean/Sam, mature. Spoilers through S3, angsty but amazing.
To avoid spoilers, I'm not putting summary etc. here, but if you click the link it takes you to the fic masterpost, which has those things.

What Remains by [info]walkawayslowly; Dean/Sam, mature. Spoilers for end of season two/season three.
Dean saves a town and gets amnesia, Sam goes kind of crazy trying to find him. The usual.

Crown and Anchor Me (or let me sail away) by [info]sneaky_sena; Dean/Sam, Sam/OMC, mature. Pre-series, angst.
I feel weirder reading slash where Sam is young than I do reading slash where most characters are young--go figure. Anyway, Sam is 15 in this, as a warning, and doing lots of typical teenage angst, with bonus being in love with his brother. Sam's life is hard.

Old Country by [info]astolat; Harry Potter crossover, Dean/Sam, mature. Spoilers for season three, angst.
I need to reread this fic; it's epic and amazing and has Dean with kids and goblins and just thinking the wizarding world is retarded. Even if you're not into the Wincest, I would say you should read this, and just...skim the sex parts. Because the rest of it is absolutely awesome.

Two Queens by [info]belyste; Dean/Sam, mature. Spoilers through 217, minimal angst.
But it's a little much when the librarian who's been giggling and flashing her cleavage at Dean for fifteen minutes gives him a disappointed look and straightens up when Sam comes over to the counter, and it's just plain wrong when a redneck witness (who actually gives them tips on how to shoot and cook squirrels, and tells them seriously that most roadkill's edible if the eyes are still white) gives Dean a pat on the back after they interview him and says, "Well, I hope you boys find the critter that did this. And if you need a place to stay, me and the missus got a real nice guest room you can use – got a nice big bed for you and your fella there." For God's sake, the man is a hick living in a backwater town the size of a football field. Where's the homophobia and small-mindedness when you need it?
Dean tries to figure out why everyone thinks he and Sam are gay for each other. The answer turns out to be that it's because he and Sam are gay for each other.

RPS
[info]belyste is pretty much my favorite for RPS, so here are a few of hers right off the bat:
Something Borrowed, Something Blue; J2, mature. AU, minimal angst.
He spends another twenty minutes staring at the phone wondering exactly what he's done. There are a million ways this could go terribly wrong, and it feels like every single one flashes before his eyes as he sits there. When he's worked out how this one decision could lead to nuclear warfare and the devastation of the country, or possibly the rise of a race of midget zombies that will disembowel all humankind on their quest for world domination, Jared decides that either he's made the worst decision of his life (because midget zombies would be terrifying and nuclear warfare would probably suck a lot) or he's thinking too much.
This is a rewrite of the (truly terrible) movie The Wedding Date, in which Jared hires Jensen to be his escort to his brother's wedding. It's hot and hilarious and fun and I just love everything about it.

Man's Best Friend; J2, mature. No spoilers, minimal angst.
Plus, isn't the pound kind of like dog prison? Jensen's always been a little too pretty for his own good, and the last thing he wants is to end up some Doberman's bitch.
Jensen Ackles gets turned into a tiny dog. I don't even know. It's hilarious. A++

Can't Point the Way to Your Heart; J2, Jared/Sandy, mature. AU, some angst.
"That's why I need you, to make sure I don't just run up to Sandy and tell her that I fantasize about owning two Miami Vice dogs with her someday."

"Yeah, that's the thing about women," Jensen says. "I'm pretty sure 99% of them would not find that romantic."

Jensen is a life coach who's trying to help Jared get the girl of his dreams, but he falls in love with him instead.

In Production by [info]reccea; J2, mature. Post-Supernatural, no spoilers. Kind of angsty, kind of wistful.
"It's amazing I let myself be seen with this nobody."

"Well, to be fair, I paid him a lot of money to be here," Jensen says, deadpan.

"A lot of money," Jared agrees.

Ten years after Supernatural, Jared gets divorced and has kind of a crisis and ends up hanging out with Jensen in Paris. There's a ton of build-up here, but it's all kind of...not that UST-y build-up, lots of hanging out and bantering and being friends. I love the feel of this fic and kind of everything about it, and I love the way they just keep being friends. So much love for all parts of this one, really.

After the Tone by [info]kashmir1; J2, Jensen/OMC, mature. Post-Supernatural, no spoiler, some angst.
Hey, you've reached Jared's voice mail. If you're my momma or my dad, I promise I'm eating my vegetables and taking care of myself. If you're Chad, don't ask me, just go straight to the doctor and get some penicillin. If you're Jensen, leave a message at the beep.
I think of this as kind of a compliment to "In Production," because they deal with the same time period, but very differently. In this universe, Jensen goes to New York to be on Broadway, and he and Jared sort of lose touch even though Jensen doesn't want to, and it's a very nice examination of a life. With, you know, some hot sex.

The Seahorse by [info]memphis86; J2, Jared/Chad (briefly), mature. AU, some angst, MPreg.
"Tell her I don't have bulimia, please?"

Milo doesn't look up from his PS2. "Jared doesn't have bulimia, he just makes himself puke so he won't get fat. Also, because he has bulimia."

Okay. So. I resisted reading this fic for a long time, because it's MPreg. But people kept reccing it. Also, it's called "The Seahorse," which pinged me in my [info]darknightrain-hurting kokoro. The summary is ridiculous--Jared gets pregnant because of some kind of Egyptian curse (he thinks) and Jensen is his gynecologist and they end up falling in love. But I really enjoy this fic. It's got some hilarious lines, and I want to marry Katie Cassiday in it. Anyway.

And the Rest, As They Say, Is History by [info]raina_at; J2, mature. AU, minimal angst.
Jared is a big movie star, Jensen isn't so much, and gets hired to walk Jared's dogs. I love how many of these sound like the summaries from porn movies. Also, all of [info]raina_at's stuff is awesome, so if you like this, you should check out her other work.

Tickled by [info]lazy_daze; J2, PG-13. Start of season four, but no spoilers.
"You were – what, trying to seduce me through secret gay messages hidden in your clothing?"
[info]lazy_daze is another author who is amazing and you should just read her stuff, but I'm reccing this because I followed the tinhats back in the day. And it explains why Jared Padalecki wears so much pink.

A Cage to Catch Our Dreams by [info]notthequiettype; J2, mature. Post-Supernatural, no spoilers.
Jared tugs at Jensen's beard when he comes through the door, like it's some sort of normal human greeting. Jensen arches an eyebrow and Jared ignores it. "Does it protect your delicate features from frostbite?"
Rounding out the trifecta of "just read all their stuff," we have [info]notthequiettype! In this fic, Jensen grows a beard and smokes pot and BANTERS. There is so much awesome banter in this fic. I love it a lot.

Do I Seem Bulletproof To You? by [info]fleshflutter; J2, mature. AU, angsty but not overly so.
There is a very important subgenre of Supernatural RPS. That subgenre is hooker!fic. We already had a little with "Something Borrowed, Something Blue," but we have more. For some reason, Jensen is usually the hooker. Anyway. In this fic, Jared becomes hooker!Jensen's chauffeur/bodyguard and there's sexual tension and then sex and then complications. It's very long and pretty good fun if, you know. You like hooker!fic.

You know what I like even better than hooker!fic? College AUs. Oh man. I love college AUs. So here we go:
Late Night Double Feature by [info]vorpalblades; J2, mature. AU, minimal angst.
Not actually an AU at a college, but both Jared and Jensen are college-aged and students, working for the summer at a movie theater. It's all very normal and fun and refreshing. A lot of hanging out with coworkers and drinking.

To the Beat of Our Noisy Hearts by [info]lostt1; J2, mature. AU, some angst.
Jared is a DJ on the college station, Jensen is a fan of his show, Mike Rosenbaum hooks them up because Mike Rosenbaum is awesome. Has a couple timestamp sequels, too.

Everyone Experiments In College by [info]indysaur; J2, mature. AU, angsty.
Jared's a freshman, Jensen is his TA, there are complications. Some great lines, but it gets a little too confusedly angsty with relationship issues for my taste. Still, definitely good and worth a read.

Waiting For My Real Life to Begin by [info]sneaky_sena; J2, mature. AU, some angst.
Jared has a string of bad roommate. Jensen has an angsty past. I really like this universe, although a large part of it is the complete adoration I have for I Watch the Sun as it Comes Up, I Watch it as it Sets, which is one of the sequels. The entire 'verse is good, and worth reading, but that is by far my favorite installation, and I adore it.

Ideally [info]keepaofthecheez's "There's a Piece of the Puzzle Known As Life" would go here, but her journal temporarily has all its entries set to private. So when that stops, go to her journal and read that fic.
