I can no longer access LJ at work -- it's been put on the banned list. Not that I ever had much time for it at work anyway, but used to be able to read a little while eating lunch at my desk.
But now, nuthin'. Which means I still haven't caught up with the posts I missed while we were on the road at the beginning of July. Whenever I do get some time to read LJ, I skim quickly and hardly ever comment or post, because there's just no time. I snap at bbwoof when he tries to get me to leave the computer. I restlessly wonder what hobbitblue and kethlenda and supergee and everyone are doing. The little finger on my left hand twitches. I think I'm having LJ withdrawal symptoms.
I bowed out early from Magic night this evening, leaving a bunch of guys playing cards in the living room while I hurried to the computer. And I've forced myself to stop reading LJ so I can update a little bit. Here goes:
I have finished my first knitting project, a cute hat for my GRANDBABY. Said grandbaby, Eitan, is growing like a little piggy. He gets fussy in the evenings, though, so I've not been able to spend much time with him. His Mommy just got a part-time job on Sundays, and they all seem to be doing really well.
My other daughter has just bought a house with her husband. I feel so bizarrely old all of a sudden. My kids are, like, grown up and everything.
Our friend strgzncat was in town visiting this past weekend. We went to the Art Museum, and Cahokia Mounds, and ate out at some of our favorite places. But she made the mistake of saying that she missed yard work. HAH! We gotcher yard work right here, little girl! We did marvelous things to the front yard, and cleaned up the back a bit.
My friend Cookie is briefly in town for a convention. We kidnapped her for brunch on Sunday morning. If I'm lucky, I'll get to have lunch or drinks with her before she leaves on Tuesday.
Let's see, what else? Oh, I visited my Grandma at the nursing home on Sunday afternoon. She talked in great detail about her bowel movements for about an hour. "It was like giving birth! Really! Bigger than your mother was when she was born! But such an odd color."
First, though, Grandma told me that "the fat colored girl with freckles" is her favorite nurse -- then she paused for a beat and said, "I mean, the fat non-white girl, not the really dark fat one, though, the one with freckles". I apologize for her to the staff every time I visit. They always wave it away. You couldn't pay me to work there.
Now bbwoof is calling to me to rejoin the group, since some have left and they want an even number. Bye! |
